I bought the base game ages ago. If I buy the expansions now, it would cost me about as much as it would to buy the GOTY edition. If I bought the GOTY edition now (for less than I paid for the base game) I would feel like a mug for paying twice. Also, if I buy the GOTY edition now and a GOTY upgrade is subsequently released, I will feel like a mug. If I don't buy the GOTY edition now, while it's on sale, and an opportunity like this doesn't come back I will feel like a mug.

Like the rest of you I need to know if there will be a GOTY edition upgrade...
Agreed. I got W3 close to launch and would love to play the dlc but the price being the same as the GOTY edition puts me off completely.

Hmmm... the sale's about to end. I don't know whether or not to buy GOTY.

AAaaaaaarrggghhhhhhh!
IF you want GOTY just buy it. I did although I own first edition. Personally I do not see any reason it should be given out for free to the users that bought the game earlier, especially that GOTY includes both expansion packs. If you do not want to spend some money just stick to the first edition that is fully functional.

Yes it's money so well spent :) For once you pay for expansions with an amazing content.

I don't think anyone has been arguing for getting the GOTY free if you don't already own all the expansions. There are people in this thread that own the base game and both expansions, and they would like the GOTY for easier installing and also supposedly better mod support on GOTY than singular versions.
And there are others in this thread that have the base game and would like a resonable discount on the expansion pass, as GOTY is currently pretty much the same price as the expansion pass.
I feel it's fine for GOG to upgrade to the players who own the Base+DLC - I can see how a single installer is just more appealing for some. The question is how much owners of just the base game want off the expansion pass? What do you think is fair? I've seen a lot of talk of potential "upgrade" options, but little about what buyers want that price to be.

And it gets even more complicated if we factor in that some gamers might only own one of the two DLCs...do they get a separate upgrade option? Or does GOG just discount the Expansion Pass and then all those gamers are left feeling stuck in the cold and start a new thread.

I suppose what I'd have liked to see would have been the same percentage discount on the expansions as on the GOTY edition (40%). That would've been simple.
