Hi,

My daughter saw me playing witcher 3 and would like to play it also.
We only have one gaming PC.

Is it possible to start a new game separate from my game on the same PC.
(I would like to keep all my save files etc .. )

I do not mind buying it again but I wonder if the files won't mix up....

If you'd like to keep your saves separated (no risk of overwriting someone's save) you should try creating separate Windows account for your daughter. Most modern games (well, it's been so for 10 or more years), Witcher included, keep their saves and setting in "Documents" folder, which is separate for every Windows user account.

Minamir: If you'd like to keep your saves separated (no risk of overwriting someone's save) you should try creating separate Windows account for your daughter. Most modern games (well, it's been so for 10 or more years), Witcher included, keep their saves and setting in "Documents" folder, which is separate for every Windows user account.

How about the GOG connection with the game.. and I am not holier than the pope but I think the creatos deserver their pay :-) ... should i buy it twice ?

I thought my answer is clear enough but it doesnt seem so. Read this:

3.3 Your GOG account and GOG content are personal to you. You can gift GOG games and GOG videos to other people (up to a limit of 5 per day and provided the recipient doesn’t already own the GOG game/video being gifted) however this might differ on a case by case basis, but you can't sell them or charge money for them.

This is WEIRD just got an official reply from GOG wich states the following :

Hello, you can both play the same game on the same machine, it's completely legal (unless the laws in your country are explicitly against fair use, but I doubt it), and we won't restrict that.
The main problem will be with the achievements - they are tied to the account and can't be reset, so you will both get them without any separation.
the next one will be saves - the game uses autosave feature, but there are also manual saves - please make sure that you both save manually, in different files, so you won't overwrite your wife's progress and vice versa.

A new windows user would not solve the GOG account (registry settings?) thingy and the achievments ....

2 different answers from GOG. I would go for your one.
If I were you I would create a second windows user for your daughter and let her play the game. If you are able to change the savegame names do it. So it is easier to see which one is yours and hers. Don't trust the autosave feature. Only save manually.
GOG Galaxy is optional. So you can let her start the game with or without it (DRM free). If she really cares for achievements she need to buy Witcher 3 for her own gog account.

GOG Galaxy is optional. You don't need to use it. Even if it is installed you can start all GOG games by double clicking the exe-file.

You dont need Galaxy to launch Witcher 3, its completely DRM free. So unless you both want achievements you could have one of you launch the game over galaxy and the other one just starts the game directly...

As said above, after you make her new Windows account, you can create a desktop shortcut pointing directly to the .exe file (...install path\The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt\bin\x64\witcher3.exe). This way your saves will be separated, and she will play without Galaxy, meaning it won't interfere with any achievements, playtime counter etc.

(I did chage my install path to a separate ssd game disk, but thats just the program files i think... )

You shouldn't have install the application multiple times, it could have been an installation for all users.

Then as previous posts explained even with a single installation of the game you can have multiple windows accounts each having its own saves but most probably also its own settings and preferences. It generally also works with games with mods because mods are most often installed out of the game files and in a location dependent of the user account.
