thekingcasper: going by the PS4 videos im seeing i believe witcher 2 on PC looks better or equal in parts..
PS4 videos? You mean youtube compressed videos that distort things. And how can you compare TW2 on PC and compressed video stream on PS4? This just doesn't make sense.
Ok, I found some PS4 streams. This is definetely an upgrade from W2. Graphics look overall better, colors a bit off but it seems that brightness on those streams is way too high. Grass looks worse than in trailers, but on par with W2, which is still good considering open world. There are some glitches with physics. Animations are much better than W2, but slightly worse than trailers. And I definetely wouldn't judge gameplay by those streams, because the ones that I've seen - they're complete morons. Using silver sword against humans, mindlessly using signs without any logic, using crossbow in melee, not using talents, trying to kill high level enemies with level 3 witcher, walking in town with sword in hands -_- I'd prefer to play myself to judge.

What? You just confirmed that on PC graphics are a bit better than on PS4. Have you even watched the video you linked?
Differences for those, who can't notice:
1. Greater foliage render distance on PC
2. Higher grass density on PC
3. Better hair on PC
4. Slightly better light effects on PC
5. Slightly more detailed shadows & greater shadow draw distance on PC
Same antialiasing, but that can be fixed by things like NVidia DSR for people with high end specs.

Hrmm.. are you sure you watched the video closely?? The lighting, dynamic range, shadows, foliage distance, and even the textures (particularly on the face) all are superior on the PC in this video and that's without the day 1 patch.

Anyone who thinks they either look identical or that the PS4 looks better is drinking the hype train koolaid or simply trolling.

Go to time stamp 5:41 and tell me the graphics haven't changed. It's evident much before that however I find its quite striking at that time.

Ok, now watch closely again. Let's say watch 5:30 and tell me how is it identical on PC to PS4. You need to be blind not to notice the difference. There are a lot of other differences but they are small. It's not like PC version is light years ahead of console version and it shouldn't be - PS4/XB1 are still new and are on par with modern PCs, better than average I'd say. It would be stupid to release a game that only a few people will be able to run at max settings (remember a disaster that was supersampling in W2, I think it was called ubersampling in settings?).

I never told that graphics didn't change from trailers. Quite the opposite - I said that graphics changed to the worse, but not as much as most people seem to think. Most people here are exaggerating how much worse graphics have become. Also you can't call it a downgrade, because it's still way better that W2 in both graphics and gameplay. You can't downgrade from something that didn't exists. Trailers will almost always look better than actual game.

That isn't true at all. On a PC you have options to turn on certain effects while you can turn off others. Because a person has a higher end card gives them the ability to increase the options. Those who have less hardware would be limited of course but the options shouldn't be removed due to this. If you cant run it on that setting don't turn it on simple.

The graphics have changed quite a bit. There is no denying that and yes they are still good just nowhere near as good as advertised in the trailers. It's not because it was just a trailer it was because the game genuinely looked better it was rendered in the game engine. The game has been downgraded from the original graphic quality and deserves that term regardless of if it looks better than the witcher 2 the game took a huge dip in fidelity to run on the consoles.

Too many options make it hell of a lot harder to support the game.
Even without options at all supporting PC game is still much harder with all that variety in hardware.

Not supporting them anymore "just" because of this would be an overreaction, in my opinion. But they should just recognize it already.

We'll see how things develop. Looks like mods over at the Witcher forums are banning people who are bringing the graphics up, lol. Hopefully we'll never have those kinds of mods here.

If the developer think like you, there will be no graphical evolution. They make partnership with NVIDIA to sell new graphics card 400-500€ and graphics are the same as ps4 (350 €). No, there is no problem, everything is fine!

There are games that will always improve graphics. I'd call them interactive benchmarks. Other games don't really need that kind of graphics, gameplay (and in some genres story) is way more important. You can expect such games from companies like Crytek, because they need to sell their engines. W3 still has amazing graphics even if it's worse than in trailers. Why would you care? If you care so much for graphics why don't you just buy recent 3DMark and stare at it all day long?
