MisterAlex: You're obtuse. I clearly explained the difference.
avatar
Hickory: No, you did not. The game, in both cases, is the same... exactly the same. Only the installer is different. The installer is not the game, so stop being a cry baby.
Again, severe density of thought...

If all I cared about was game content, I'd have a bigger Steam library and a smaller GOG library. If you don't get that, then there's nothing for you and me to discuss.

MisterAlex: <Drivel>
Yeah, nothing more to say. Figures.
avatar
MisterAlex: It's not the same.
avatar
Hickory: Yes it is.
If it is exactly the same, what is the downside to flagging it as owned on the account of someone who has all the DLC/Expansions?

It's the same game in a different package. Nothing new about that in the business world. Whichever one you buy you get the same game. As for the reasoning, you need to ask CDP/GOG, not me.

You seemed so dead-set against this idea that I figured you must have had reasons it would be bad.
You have proven me wrong a second time. :)

No, I'm not "dead-set against this idea", what irks me is the fuss some people make because they feel they're entitled to something they absolutely are not. It's the 'gimme, gimme' brigade that gets my goat.

People have given reasons for why they think it is a good idea.
--Ease of install (GOTY is essentially a patch roll-up for people who have all the content)
--So it will show as owned in any bundle offers down the line (sometimes, not accepting all the unowned games in an offer changes the available discount)

I don't see this as a "gimme gimme" brigade. As you yourself say, they are asking for no more content than they already have. So I don't understand how this request harms you in any way, especially since you can't list even one downside to making the change.

You're wrong. I am not here to answer to you on "downsides"; I have already explained that I don't have a problem with the principle of releasing it. Those I am speaking of are not asking for it, they are demanding it. They are acting like they are entitled to it. They are not. They *are* the 'gimme, gimme' brigade. They won't quit. They will keep on demanding; a pointless exercise.
Excellent.

Hm, the GOTY upgrade pages shows base game in the list of "missing" items - though I do own it!
And if I uncheck it, I don't get 35% off of DLCs :-(

Same here. If the offer was to upgrade your base game why do I have to buy it again to get the rebate, makes no sense.
Hey guys, im on the same boat :)

Edit: Ok, they fixed it :)

Same here . Would definitely upgrade, I hope it gets fixed in time.

Btw, I activated my W3 base game on GoG via key from a different store. Maybe that has something to do with it?
