I'm curious if there is a key binding built into the game to take a screenshot, or is it not possible? Perhaps its a functionality built into GOG galaxy?

With this gorgeous game I would like to screenshots, but I can't figure out how. The screenshot button does not seem to work.
Use a free software as FRAPS
I have a piece of freeware called lightshot. However, the witcher 3 seems to block its functionality. I am unsure why. If it were as simple as that, I would not have asked.

I also just tried greenshot. That does not seem to work either.

I'm using Dxtory to take screenshots, works just fine just make sure you setup the screenshots folder and everything is good to go.
FRAPS works for me and I was also able to add it to Steam (i.e. add a non-Steam game) to get the Steam overlay and screenshot functionality.

Yeah, I tried Fraps. That seems to work just fine. Also tried the steam overlay, and that works dandy too. The only catch with steam is that GOG galaxy will not track time or achievements when the game is run through steam and not through galaxy.

Thanks for all the suggestions. Seems like Fraps, Dxtory, or the steam overlay. is the way to go until CDPR adds the screenshot functionality into the game.
Ah good, wasn't just me then. I scrounged through the key binding page, pressed the F10, 11 and 12 keys, as well as print screen in hopes one of those would save screens.

I guess Fraps has one more breath of life on this machine, shadowplay all but replaced it for my fps counter and recording needs.
I would advise Bandicam. Lightweight and easy to use.
shouldnt have to use a 3rd party bit of software for this. Just another screw up by CDRed along with everything else
But they must plan an ingame screenshot function,
or why there is a sccreenshot folder in the game installation?

Sure there is, I spend 20 minutes trying to figure out how to do it.

They probably missed the key when they ported the PS4 game to pc.

That would explain the +30 fps issues, and the average graphical "meh".
Until there's a proper in-game screenshot function, I've cobbled together a small program that grabs a screenshot every time you press the glow-y XBOX guide button on a 360 controller. Handy for me since I don't have any other capture software and using a button right on the gamepad is quicker than trying to hit a key anyway!
If you have an AMD card, MSI afterburner works awesomely. You can easily capture videos with it too.

Yes I often use this app for capturing screenshot. But recently discovered an app called Free Online Screenshot and I prefer using it because it is a web-based application and you can use it for free. You can access this tool in this page. http://screenshot.net
GoG shold make a Screenshot function :P
