Hi everyone,

My first post here, hoping someone can assist.

I'm thinking to buy Wild Hunt soon but the best deal I can find is online which would require me to download the entire game, unfortunately I live in a country that can't provide very fast download services for cheap so it'll take too long to download (at best: 400kb/s).

A friend however has already got an installed copy of Wild Hunt on his machine, it's registered through Steam though.

This situation has lead me to this question: Can I grab his copy of Witcher and then register it through GoG using my GoG/Witcher key?

Correction: He has the Origin version, not the Steam version.

What's wrong with 400 Kb/s? It took me around 6 hours (overnight) at 100 kb/s, so yours should download in 1 hour 40 mins (lunch time).

GOG-galaxy has an option to import a folder, but I don't know if it will work for the Steam version. Most of the files would be the same, so it might recognize the game. If it did accept the folder, then you would probably want to run verify/repair before playing.

400 Kilobytes Per Second - so I can usually do about 9-10gb a night; depending on whether or not the ISP feels like giving me full speed. :p

I'm new to GoG so I don't know for sure but I know that Steam has an option for activating products, I'm not sure about how exactly it works though you would get better responses from steam forums or just by googling probably.

But I think it would only make sense for GoG to have a similar option as well, it's just a newer platform and even younger client so it might be harder to find out how to do it even if the option is available.

In another Thread it was said that the steam version launches without steam, which in return leads me to believe that (which is rare) steam does not have its own executables in the game folder. However, since you said that it is the Origin Version, and knowing EA, the chances might be slimmer.

What I'am trying to say. If you copy his Witcher 3 folder on your harddrive, add it to your galaxy Account and verify/repair it... well then you should be spared most of the download. :)
