my signs dont work at all, it just shows me "cannot do that now" or "cannot do that in combat" on my screen whenever i try. I looked back at some older saves, the ones i tried work.

Don't use Dimeritium bombs or stay away their AoE

Something similar happened to me, I was stuck in one particular sign. I fix it riding Roach, I read that swimming fix it too. It "reset" your signs. Give it a try.

i tried swimming, didnt work. The axii sign works on roach but thats it

In combat if you use dimeritium bombs and you are caught by their AoE you cannot cast sign while still in it and for a while after.

:( sorry, I thought it was just a general combat situation. I noticed you cannot use the sign if friendlies are nearby.
Have you tried a combat without dimeritium bombs?

yep, i completely got rid of dimeritium bombs and still nothing
