I'm new here. So, I've been playing the game for a while now, but I realized that we can install some patches, like 1.04.
I'm afraid If I download and install it, my saved games will be erased?
Is there a way to install the patches inside the game or this is the only way?

No, they won't be erased and they will still work.

For example, I'm running 1.04 and opened a save made with 1.02 with no problems.

I would not DL patch 1.04 though. It broke the game for some people including me. Wait for the patch 1.05.

I re-installed TW3 today, patched upto 1.03. but my saves wouldn't work with 1.03, so had to install 1.04 :(

While increased performance for some other people (like me) :p

So, i download the patch 1.04 and installed by running it autoexe.

Now I can't open the game, it tells me that it will only be available on may 19 haha

Yeah, but might as well not take any chances and wait for the next patch that is coming out tomorrow.

Make sure your computer clock is set-up correctly. Other than that, make sure you installed patch 1.04 and not something else, like the preload patch.

When in doubt, zip it.

you have to install the patches in sequence

Patch 1.01 /* this is the patch that lets you launch the game */
then 1.01 - 1,03
then 1.04

You don't need to specify any folder, the patches know where the witcher is installed, just run them from where they downloaded to.
