The game has been running fine for me, and the first patch and DLC installed without issue.

When downloading the 1.03 patch though it fails, and the game says NOT AUTHORIZED next to the "PLAY" and "MORE v" buttons.

I have a physical copy of the game I purchased from Best Buy, and the GOG key is redeemed and associated with my account, so the game appears in my game list without issue.

I was able to start the download for 1.03 around 15 times to get it to finally complete, and manually install it from the "!Downloads" folder, but this is super annoying.

Verify/Repair also fails with a NOT AUTHORIZED.

Could really use some assistance sorting this out.

I see this same issue posted by other people in other games, and no one ever seems to answer or help from the community and most definitely no help from GOG.

try "buying" the free dlc program and once that's complete it should let you update. I was having the same problem and this seemed to be the thing that caused it to start working.

Thanks very much, that took care of the problem.

Purchased the Free DLC addition and then restarted the client and the problem went away and it updated to the latest 1.04.

I think a large part of the problem is even though I own the game with the key I redeemed and it appears in my account, it is in an odd broken state with the store. It is not synchronized properly. If I look in the games list everything else I own on GOG says "Owned" as its state, but Witcher 3 lists its price and allows me to purchase it. So the state is wrong, it does not realize I own it. When I actually get to the cart though it says I already own it.

They need to fix my account state with the game.

Thanks for the info, as I was having the same problem as the OP. Purchased the free DLC, restarted the Galaxy client, and the game status has changed.

I had a similar problem with the downloaded version. Game status in GOG was going from "installed" to "not authorized" after trying to update itself.
Buying the free DLC pack in GOG Store is the solution.
Try http://www.gog.com/user/refresh.
I also had the "NOT AUTHORIZED'' problem. I could not "Verify/Repair" the game files (v1.4), a message of failure popping-up as Galaxy client could not access the game files.

Purchasing the "Free DLC Program" pack through the store solved the problem : Galaxy is now able to fully manage the game files (especially the "Verify/Repair", "Organize" features).

Thanks a lot :)
Same problem here, can confirm that "repurchasing" the free DLC program fixes the issue.

Thanks man, you helped me a lot.
Sorry for the thread resurrection, but I guess I'm the first person for which xCRUCiOx's advice doesn't work.

I just bought the game today (physical copy) and proceeded to install it via the 4 game discs. At the end of the installation, I opted to install GOG Galaxy as well.

My game version is 1.02, just for your information.

After clicking on verify/repair, I get a "Not Authorized" message.

I bought the free DLC and it is now listed as "Owned".

I restarted the GOG client, but the game still gives a Not Authorized message.

Any idea what I should do?

PS. I should add that the game isn't in the Library, and is only listed on the menu on the left of the client. In fact, the Library is completely empty.

PPS. I also can't Connect. When I click on Connect Now and then select Cancel (since I don't have codes), nothing happens, I just return to the main page.

nevermind, I fixed the issue by redeeming my game code from the back of the manual

What if I already have the free dlc listed as owned?
I'm kind of lost here...

Thank You very much for this post.
I just bought the game from best buy yesterday. Loaded the game, bought the free DLC that wouldn't load,
because the game is 1.02 version.

I seen the connect button, knowing I already signed up to GOG and already login, asking for a code. Checked my emails.None of the GOG emails had a code. I was like, did I buy a game that can't be updated. Didn't want to down load any ones update and in the past some games you have to update each patch to make it current.

When I saw this post I was like DOH.

Thank you so much.
