So, after testing the 1.31 GOTY install files:
Not only does it have the nice random menu change, the combined install size is about 10GB less, and backup space needed for the install files is also 10GB less if you are storing them somewhere.
I wouldn't bet against the idea that load times may be faster too, because as I understand it the patched games read data from the base and substitute where needed from patch directories (which requires more computing).
GOG really needs to get moving here, there is no excuse why people who paid higher price, often preordered on good faith, get a crappy patch potsoup and new buyers who come late and pay late get the all convenient single click thing.
