Aprive: Ever since I paid a captain to sail to Skellige, I have had this bizarre sword. First appeared when pirates attacked the Captains ship on the ride to Skellige. Ever since it has been "sheathed" on the side of my body, or so it looks. The sword doesn't even exist, I have looked through all categories in my inventory to find nothing. He does hold the sword but only in the Inventory screen when I put a new sword on my body (as demonstrated in attached image).
Anyway just need these questions answered if possible;
1. What the heck is this sword?
2. Is it a quest item used later on in the game?
3. Is there a way to get rid of it?

TBreaker20: I think you are just trolling us :p I don't know, it may be photoshop, or you could have replaced the models somehow.
I have not modded the game in any way shape or form. Here is another image showing it on Geralt himself.

Santiago: It's definitely a bug, one I've never seen before. :D You don't get a sword when you go to Skellige, this isn't supposed to happen, I can tell you that much.
If you haven't played far from this point I would try to reload an earlier save and see if it happens again. Other than that, your playthrough is "broken" in that regard.
Sorry I can't rmember the name of the quest but you're headed for Ciri, but then Geralt woke up because of a pirate attack and he was just holding the sword, I have no idea why. I already have two and now I have a third one that I don't want :( The handle is so huge it goes past Geralts face and makes cutscenes pretty annoying. But thanks I'll try to reload an earlier save.
Also should note it's been there for a while and I've closed the game and re-opened multiple times. It isn't a one-time thing. Just put another angle of it in attached files.
I was actually hoping people would help me instead of accusing me of trolling. I am genuinely concerned about this sword and why its in my game or game files (I wouldn't even know where to look for something like this). I wouldn't come to a forum and post if I wasn't sure myself. I'm starting to think my game is glitched or broken, because the sword is really quite big in comparison to other swords. Maybe it's a Dev Weapon? I have no idea..
