Hi guys, I'm playing the game on ultra -without hairworks- and it looks awesome. But my GTX 970 reaches 75-80ºC after a while, and it gets so noisy. Anyways, do you think it is normal? Am I running a risk or something? What do you think?

The new Maxwells are theoretically built to operate without much noise and heat... Ambient temperature is probably a factor in your country. Try to improve air circulation inside your PC case if possible. Worst case, you could try taking off the side cover.

I run MSI afterburner (works with most graphics cards, regardless of brand) on a low fan speed setup, letting the GPU temperature go up to around 85 before the fans start spinning aggressively (barely ever happens). You can set up temperature charts to react to different temperature readings, when I'm out of game, it is on 20%, completely inaudible.

What 85??!?!!?! - i have an Inno3D iChill GeForce GTX 970 X4 Air Boss Ultra - i dont care about noise, because of my sennheiser game zero - so max. temp 59-62°C

Nope. Obviously Witcher 3 is graphically much more demanding than your previous games, so heat is expected.

As mmarci suggested, I also recommend taking a look at MSI Afterburner.

Anything under 90C is good to go.
The cards will work just the same with low or high fan speed and
also low or high temps. There will be no difference in fps or quality.
Maybe the card will die in 6 rather than 10 years, but who cares...

Below is a link to my fan profile. My temps never go higher than 68c. So like in the picture I have the fan speeds to run 10% higher than any given temp. Example: "40c = 50% fan speed, 50c = 60% fan speed, 60c is 70% fan speed and so on. I usually keep it 5% higher above the temp but I changed it to 10% for this game. This works for any other apps like MSI afterburner or whatever is it you use. Give a try.

Glad I found this thread. Having upgraded from a GTX650Ti on a Core2Duo to a GTX960 and an i5 I was wondering if it is normal that the Temp goes to about 60 degrees and the fans are working at about 60% because in my old system my fan stayed below 30% and I did not hear it at all. It's not that loud but I was not getting used to hear the fans at all. So this is absolutely normal and I have nothing to worry at all?

My sli GTX 980's often reach those temps when playing demanding games, it is normal.

Anything under 90 is good, don't worry about keeping temps at 60-70 degrees. I'd rather have a near audible system anyway, I use Speedfan when I'm not playing games to keep the CPU cooler and the system fans on low RPM too.
