All of us used the mouse for movement. I guess it's where one starts and who with. I only heard of WASD later and was... very confused :o) For a while I actually thought that it required three finger and thumb to use WASD, instead of just three fingers.

Non rebindable movement keys, great job CDPR. I did not expect you to go back to before Witcher 1 days.
Guess I'm going to shelf the game for now then :(

lol yeah I grew up just using the keyboard for Doom. I didn't know it had mouse support until i bought it on Steam a few yrs ago >_<

this is seriously a deal breaker? Man, gamers use to be happy with so many different control types. Now they're too lazy to memorise more than one. What a shame.

Heh, I've got you guys beat, I cannot type, in fact I have to stare at my keyboard while "typing," so I just spent an hour or so re-binding the keys....So be grateful that you are able to use the Ctrl/Shift or alt keys in the heat of battle!

Oh, you didn't use the mouse at all? *laugh* I was joking. Oh, wow. Although, now that I think about, I do remember coming across a few people over the years following the arrival of DOOM who never used the Strafe keys. Some didn't know what they did and others never even knew they existed.

So yeah, funny. I, for example, went on to use SDGB, DFHN or sometimes ASFV, so I may be the weirdest of all :o)

I agree with much being said here. I'm at a loss. I have no idea why this wasn't just a given.

I believe WASD can be very hard to use for some as not everyone has a QWERTY keyboard.

That's what I thought too, until I was in a fight and I had to

Dodge, block, switch between spells, cast spells, throw bombs, attack strong, attack fast, roll forward/backward/left/right, jump and last but not least move normally.

Somehow the four keys just won't cut it for me...

Game is unplayable for me as a leftie in its current state. Keybinding is broken and needs fixing, period.

Actual quoting seems broken, cant get past "please wait. Processing...

It's not about memorizing a new control scheme, I just hate using WSAD. I've been playing games using EDSF for movement for 20 years or so, I can wait a few days for CDPR to fix their game. And they'll have to fix it because right now the game will be unplayable for people with an AZERTY keyboard or other non english keyboard layouts.

Well, understandably, nobody's playstyle is exactly the same, and I have been spending almost all of my playtime thus far trying out different combinations of mappings.

But as for your example, how I have it set up is:

I remapped Jump to RMB, remapped Parry/Witcher Sense to the first thumb mouse button, remapped cast sign to the 2nd thumb button (still change signs via mouse wheel), and remapped Strong attack to the top middle mouse button. I use the Numpad buttons for things like throw bombs, and the dodge function is performed by holding RMB (jump) + a direction arrow key.

So, while I am far from effective at fighting still, I can at least imagine how the scenario would play out.

Here's hoping we all get some help with this.

It's unplayable for me as well. I can't even get to a fight, since moving is extremely cumbersome - I need both hands for moving at all, a third for the mouse to look, and then I'd need a fourth hand for the actions.

Getting out of the cozy den is possible with some effort, but no chance in surviving a fight.

*Need* keymapping to make it work, the game is unplayable otherwise.


And yes, everybody has their own style, experience, habits - that's why every game that is a wee bit above 1-person-indie game provides a way to customise the settings. WTH happened at CDRP there?

Rebinding ALL keys is absolutely VITAL for accessibility issues, left handers and people with disabilities just for starters.

Please CDPR, fix this so ANY key can be rebound else some of us can't play. :(
