In about 2 more weeks we will be getting the public release version(s) of Windows 10.

In my computer I have Windows 8.1 on drive C and Windows 10 on Drive E and the original Gog download on drive F.

What should I do to move to Windows 10?

Probably won't do it until after the 1.07 patch but thought I might prepare and get anything done early that I can.

I have beta version of W10 running but won't transfer over to W10 for daily use until the release version on July 29th.

If you have Windows 8.1 you will be given an option to free upgrade. Happened to me after installing patches :P

You'll need to be a bit careful as you could lose Galaxy and Witcher3 files.

Always be sure to backup your Documents folder. I have mine located inside of OneDrive, so it can always be backed up.

Backup Witcher 3 Savegame files,
Install GoG on Windows 10
Run Gog Galaxy Client, and run Import Folder from WItcher 3 menu

I would back up save games and do a fresh install of the game, and ensure you have all the game install files handy.

Even if there is a way to import - you would be best served to start with a fresh installation on a new Operating System.

Remember - this is Microsoft. There has never been a smooth, error-free way to transfer to a new operating system since they started using an OS registry. Always best to re-install fresh.

Did you install Witcher 3 on win 10?
if so, then import folder not required,
you can play the games,
I used import folder, because my witcher 3 game file not on windows drive, (drive G)
so i dont need to reinstall the game, i just use import folder so galaxy can detect my games

i don't think you'll actually lose anything besides having to upgrade drivers. but best to backup.

when windows 10 is about i'm going to create a backup disc as and when the option becomes available. then do nothing until a new os comes up or when upgrading becomes mandatory :-)

Have fun with windows 10, I tried it yesterday via vmware, can't stand it, it's worse than xp and 7, I'm talking about the UI, seems like a desktop version of a smartphone.

I connected my wi-fi, and iwindows 10 came to lfe, informing me of the weather in my area, latest news, I think I even saw an ad.

windows store, one note etc.. which can't be uninstalled, and as for the windows explorer, it's the same as office.[ribbon menu]

XP still has the best windows explorer [for file manipulation]

nowonder they are giving free upgrades it's crap [to me anyway]

Well, nobody's forcing you to use it.

I play Witcher 3 on Windows 10. Just backup your game in any way you want and you'll be fine. There should be no problem, though.

The only problem was MOVING the game from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10 on a different drive.

Something messed up and somehow a redistributable file didn't get installed.
Running the file a member pointed me to performed a repair on the _redistributables and then everything was fine.

But, for awhile, I had no idea why it didn't work. I followed instructions to the letter and got a Green Play button in the Gog Client but it didn't work.

Still not sure whether the fault was with Gog's installation or with the Windows 10 installation.

Or if the file just somehow got corrupted because I've been using the beta versions of W10 on that drive all along so corruption of that file is possible, I suppose.

It will forever remain one of those mysteries.
