Hello guys, I have now nearly completed Witcher 1 (an amazing game) and will soon move on to Witcher 2. Then, of course, it will be Witcher 3, though that might have to wait a couple of years for a better computer - we will see how my current one handles Witcher 2. Still, I am already excited. :)

In any case, I like the witcher magic system, where simple spells can be cast as signs. In the Witcher 1, there are 5 signs and I know that I won't find any more in Witcher 2. So my question is, whether any more sings have been added in Witcher 3. If not, are there any plans to do so in any of the expansions? It would be really nice if that were the case - 5 signs is nice, but a more extensive magic system would be even nicer. :) Lore would surely allow it fairly easily - if they don't already exist in lore, then some lost witcher signs could be discovered, or new ones invented due to exceptional circumstances...

In Witcher 3, there are the same signs as in the other Witcher games and no new ones. However, you can upgrade the signs so that they can do other things. I don't think that CD Project RED will add new signs in the expansions.
-1 We don't need more signs, and doesn't fit the lore at all.

A Witcher is not a mage or sorcerer, they cast simple magic through concentration and hand gestures. I don't believe existing lore would allow for tons of signs -- think of the Circles of Elements.

+1 Witchers draw power from the circle of elements.

There were other signs mentioned in the book series. But then, Geralt almost NEVER used any of them even when they would have been most helpful. There were times on the North Case of the Yaruga specifically while fleeing Nifgaardian soldiers before they found the Druids of Myrkvid. I mean he seems to forget he has the signs at his disposal.
As far as I know, the only sign mentioned in the books that Geralt can't/doesn't use in the games is Heliotrope (it's included in Witcher 2 but not by default). I'm glad they skipped that sign as it only provides some resistance against magic attacks and no resistance against physical attacks. It would be pretty useless in the games.

All in all I agree with the others. There shouldn't be more signs in the Witcher games. That would go against the lore. Witchers aren't mages and vice versa.
