Hi Guys

I've installed The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt and it worked perfectly. I've played a few hours and then quitted the game.

I wanted to start it again on the next day, but it didn't work, because the file "mfc140u.dll" is missing.

I've re-installed the game already and it worked again, even the saves were still there. After another gaming session yesterday I wanted to continue today. But I've received the exactly same error again.

Can you please tell me how I can fix this? I don't want to re-install it everytime I want to play this awesome game.

That .dll is part of Microsoft Visual C++ 2015

Hey there thank you for your reply.

I've downloaded the program and runned it. There only came the options to deinstall or repair. So I think that I already have this tool. Also after I've repaired the program and refreshed, the same error occured. Do I have to do something else?

Try doing it with your antivirus software disabled.
It might be what is stopping the game registering the .dll in the first place.

I've tried this but it still didn't work.

I've downloaded a mfc140u.dll file and placed it in the folder.

After refreshing I've received another error: 0xc000007b
I've also tried to fix this but I dont know how. Do think you could help me?

Just copying a .dll won't do you any good unless that .dll has already been registered with the operating system.
Have a look in your event viewer log.
If the game or the visual C++ setup program was stopped from registering the .dll it will be listed as an error.
also look for any other error that corresponds with when you installed the game.

To anybody reading with this error, please don't follow this BAD advice. Go to Microsoft and download the package and clean file (no malware).

The mfc140u.dll error is one of the irritating issue, this error appears when the DLL file gets damaged or misplaced from their original place. To fix a dll error message you should apply below given fixes:

I had the same problem and solved it. As it is written here, it is a library of Microsoft Visual C++ 2015 .
But the links here are bad, because the GOG Galaxy wanted a 32 bit version of the Visual C++ 2015. more precisely Microsoft Visual C++ 2015 x86. "vc_redist.x86.exe"
