I have just updated to the most recent patch and after about 2 hours of play I got a low memory warning, I didn't have this problem before patching so it has to be due to this, I am assuming that it must be memory leak, anyone else had this issue?

Windows 7 if using has a bad habit of doing that, reverting back to desktop seems to fix it.
Then going back into game and your probably right with the new patch bug.

Edit:Also need 8GB ram.

I haven't tried 1.04 yet (just downloaded and installed it), but the memory leak happens quite regularly for myself in version 1.03 and also happened in the previous release.

I don't know what causes it. I disabled windows 7 aero and that appeared to allow me a couple of hours before the crash, but now i'm not convinced that did anything.

In any case when that message appears, you don't have much time for which to save the game before it crashes...oh dear that memory message just came out while trying out version 1.04 (alt-tabbed out to post).

This is very strange though, because I still have around 4GB free at the time of the message. Is Windows 7 not giving the game enough memory I wonder?
Same here. After playing for 2-3 hours the Windows Task-Manager shows that "witcher3.exe" has allocated between 4,5 and 6 GB of RAM. The problem has also occurred before patching from version 1.02 to 1.03 up to version 1.04.
Furthermore, I have tried to switch to the Desktop and back to the game but that hasn't changed anything.

Disabling Aero, doesn't help. When it pops in game,I just save and go back to desktop
then re-start game.It seems to help as it frees up the memory again.
this is why i use windows 10. much more advanced and intelligent management of multiple threads & memory than you will ever see in windows 7. idk if thats true, i just made it up actually, but it helps enforce my sense of superiority.

That was awesome. If you didn't add that little addendum, I probably would of spent the next hour on probably quite pointless research :)

Ahh, I see a possible fix for myself...I can't believe I didn't have the page file enabled; i'm going to give that a go now and see how the game runs.

Sorry to doublepost, but just in case anyone missed this, check to make certain that your page file is enabled (or large enough - System managed should do).

So far that memory error has not occurred since enabling this (have no idea why it was disabled in the first place).

Hehe you made m chuckle there nice post, I sense you have been reading the forum with all these people complaining about bugger all and others telling everyone how great they are and how the game is far too easy for their superior skills lol.

I will check this out when I get how from work and report back, thanks for the suggestion.

Edit: I know for sure I have Page File off as I have followed a guide to optimise an SSD so I will make sure it is turned back on and see if that solves the issue.

I have a bad memory leak since the very first version of the game. It's getting worse since the game crashes. The game used to take less than 1.8GB of memory, but now takes much more than 2.3GB. Seems that 6GB is definitely not enough as minimum. Anyway, I'm also playing low settings.
That's interesting because I monitored my memory usage and I am playing on the exact opposite settings to you, I'm on ultra with additional tweeks to my GFX in CCC to improve AA and AF over and above game settings and I'm using the same memory that you are, I have 8 gigs of ram and it appears that it will not go higher that 2.3 gigs. When I check I am only using 56% of my physical memory but windows still gives the low memory warning.
I understand the reasoning for disabling the swap file for an SSD, since it is all write operations that decrease the life of an SSD.

If possible, just set the swap file to another good old magnetic spining drive (You don't have to have the swap file on the SSD).

My PC also has 8GB of RAM and the Witcher 3 was only using about 2.7GB of it before I got the low memory usage error (Basically when total memory usage for windows 7 was around 4GB used).

Creating the page file appears to have fixed the problem for me, I haven't seen that error since, I will update for certain if this changes.

The game is optimised enough for big rigs, but not for lower. Anyway, yeah, I have 6GB of RAM but W3 leaves a lot. Anyway, still memory warnings.
1.04:

There are 2 major bugs in the main story quest, but I can't spoiler it exactly right now!

These bugs won't cause any problems, but it will kill the atmosphere and destroy everyting you have been waiting for.

The game didn't crash so far, the FPS is pretty stable and nice, I have around 99 in all areas, even massive monsters or NPC's.

I have an empty partition on my old HDD that I may use for this although from the research I have done there isnt really an issue with reducing lifespan of the newer SSD's from lab testing, I'm using a Samsung 840 Pro so not too worried tbh but can't hurt to use the old drive.
