halldojo: Yeah I know, but the issue still remains, exp is slow unless you speed through quests and skip everything else.
baktanus: Why do you need the levels anyway? They're not that important in this game. You can take on an enemy on a higher level than you albeit more difficult. If you want it easier, you could also tone down the difficulty setting.
edit: And what do you skip exactly? Why do you feel the need to skip something because of your level?
Because I enjoy building up my characters in RP games, what I mean when I talk about building up is leveling and loot stuff.
Because I like a good balance when getting exp from quests and from monsters/animals/enemies.
What you describe with taking on an enemy on a higher level just goes to show how broken and boring the level system is in the game,
What I am skipping is exploration, monstery slaying, dialogs and lots of other stuff because it feels bland and a total waste of time.

ast486: The main problem is only at the beginning of the game, where there are NOT enough quests in the first area to reach 5, which is the level you need to be at starting the second zone (not counting palace).
After that, there are LOTS of quests to level up with and I've not had any xp problem after reaching 6 in the mainline quest with the witch, while going through wizard caves.
No, the main problem persist through out the game, if there is only 1 way to get exp then that is the only thing you can do to level your character, putting everyone thing else on the side line.
Relentless.5768: Personally, I enjoy the leveling in this game. It takes a back seat to adventuring and becomes something that just happens as you proceed through the game. I'm 24 hours in and at level 11 with 4000 crowns in the bank, yet I haven't progressed the main story line since leaving the orchard. I got side-tracked exploring southern Valen finding sweet sweet loot. It haven't had as much fun just bombing around a game since Morrowind. If I got XP from killing monsters I'd be far out leveled for the area and the adventuring would lose its appeal for me.
I am happy for you that it is working, for me it is doing the exact opposite, what I like about getting exp from monsters and discovering areas and such is exactly the flow of exp while doing something I find fun, I like exploring areas and killing monsters and such but if there is no gain from it then it becomes quite tedious really fast, as you say then levels just happen.
