So I played the game for about 10 hours never really hitting a loading screen unless it was death. After a few deaths I noticed it takes up to 40 seconds to load a previous save. Same thing goes for loading into the game. I thought maybe it was normal but some people say it only takes about 5 seconds for them. Also, when I'm in game, it runs perfectly fine without a hitch. I'm just wondering if anyone else has long load times and if there is any way I can fix this because it really is frustrating. Thanks for any help, it's really appreciated.

The 5sec load times are probably from fast SSD drives, and I'm guessing your 1TB drive is not?

Incidently my load times are comparible with yours.
I use this mod to remove the loading screens, it speeds up some load times.

I have the game & the save files on separate SSD's but it still takes 8 or 9 seconds to load a save from late in the game.
My load screens are no longer than 10 seconds, and are quicker than that most times. No SSD though. Not sure what would be causing that. Have 41 hours played so far.
I'm playing off of an SSD drive, and my load times are also in that general area (30-40+ secs).

I noticed that it became noticeably slower once I traveled to Velen from the starter area, it being so much larger.

I would be very interested to know why some people can load a game in 5 seconds, if that is true. Playing on Death March means a hulluva lot of loading. :)
If you have a high amount of saves just back them up (move them to anywhere outside the save folder). Only leave your most recent one in the folder. I'm not entirely sure if it helps in W3 but there are definately some games that have problems when you have too many save-files.

The Witcher 2 had that problem, but W3 uses only a few save slots – unless you have made a huge amount of manual ones. Each one is about 1,5 MB only.

This is why the difficulty in Hotline Miami is not so much an issue: instant loading times (at least with a decent enough computer).

I'm not sure if this is related, but you may try enabling a controller and it may help!

Since 1.05 hit, I've had much longer loading times. About 3 to 4 times as long.

I think I found the culprit, or at least a clue as to why this is happening. My loading times are MUCH faster (same as old loading speed in 1.04) when my XBox 360 wireless controller is on (or when disabled or uninstalled, but less so than being on). For instance:

controller enabled and ON ~ 16 secs
controller enabled but OFF ~ 55 secs
disabled or uninstalled via device manager ~ 30 secs

I even tried uninstalling the device and reinstalling using the drivers given online, but the same loading time anomaly occurs, consistently. It especially hangs during the first part of the loading process.

Has anyone else experienced this, or could maybe try this and report back?

I can't even begin to imagine why this would be the case but it actually worked. I purposely died to see how long it would take and it went down to around 10 seconds. I'm still using M&K but I just left the controller on. Thanks for the help but I really hope CDPR fixes this in a patch.
So this really odd method with the controller actually works?
I have no idea why, but I found that the "load recent save" option after you die takes a darn long time, but if I manually load the same save file (without dying), it is much quicker.
