SW of Ancient Oak & due E of Olena's Grove, there's a ? just under the massive tree. I can't get to it.
It looks like there should be a path in thru the hills, but there's not a path on the ground there.
Has anyone managed to get to it? If you decide to try, beware, there are quite a few serious beasts in the area. :)
You will get to this in the main story line.

As RADWITCHER said, but as a tip for the future you will need to find a hole in the ground on the hill. Took me ages till I fell into it LOL

I discovered that ages ago too, it's called "Bald Mountain" and I did everything I could do to try to get inside. Suffice it to say - you can't get inside or do what there is to do there until the game's main quest line progresses. You wont miss out on anything though, just play the game normally and eventually you'll open up the story enough that a quest happens that takes you to Bald Mountain and you're able to do what needs to be done there. I wont spoil anything but it is a major part of the game's main story and it is pretty damned awesome. Got to do something I was looking forward to doing for 2/3 of the time I've spent on the game so far. I wont ruin it by saying what it was though.

<suspense fills the air>

Bottom line though, you can just forget about that for now and the game will guide you there when the time is right. :)
Thanx all. You know you need to continue the main quest, when you keep finding inaccesable places! :)
Exploring is great tho. I found an ArchGriffin on an Island north of Ancient Crypt, Skellige, & it's a real Monster.
It can 2-3 hit kill me & I'm Lvl 28 with loads of buffs! I reckon it to be part of a future quest coz it really stands out as an enemy. :)

Hahahaha! I just found the same archgriffon 2 days ago! I went and did every single ? area on the Skellige map, and that island was the very very last ? I went to, only to find it has a level 2384972934793 archgriffon on it that can fart a mile away and kill half the planet just because. I got the F out of there and haven't been back since. ;oP

Now I am level 34 and just defeated The Wild Hunt (YaY!) and I'm thinking that if I have the opportunity I will go back there and try to kick that archgriffon's friggen arse!

I mean, there is a treasure chest on that island protected by that griffon right? So it has to have at least *2* broken rake handles, a used candle, a moldy piece of bread, 2 gold coins, a rope ladder, a level 2 sword and a dented tin cup in it. You can't leave such valuable things ilke that on a deserted island in the middle of nowhere that nobody even knows is there without having a level 234234 griffin protecting it right? ;)
Ok, I literally just finished the game! After all the fanfare and the credits roll up you're deposited back at Kaer Morhen and can continue playing if there are incomplete contracts you'd like to complete or other exploration or whatever. So now that I'm level 35 I decided to go back and visit the archgriffin on that island.

Holy fuck, it is LEVEL 48! I've completed every single main quest and secondary/optional quest in the game except "collect all gwent cards" which I don't know where to go to do that as it doesn't put it on the map and I've been practically everywhere and got all gwent cards I could find/buy/win from everyone.

So I have no idea how you level up to level 48 without using a script or some other hack/mod to auto-level up your character exploiting some hole in the game (such as those that have been publicized in the forums) so I have no idea how you'd go about killing that archgriffin.

I tried lobbing every bomb type at it including superior dragon's dream all to no avail. There must be some trick to it I imagine, but the damned griffin is more powerful than the Wild Hunt! LOL Maybe I need to track down Siskel and Ebert to help me out. er.. I mean Eskel and Lambert... yeah. :)

I have an idea... I could use Axii to tame a bear and get it to follow me onto my boat, travel to the island and axii it off the boat, then go get like 2 dozen more bears and bring them all there, axii them up the mountain to the griffin, then leave them there to battle it out. :)

Wait until nightfall, use a Tawny Owl potion, the Archgriffin decoction and your best Hybrid oil, then strong attack the sucker to death.
Wow, Wendigo, you da Witcher! :) When I'm a lot more Lvls, that's the way I'm gonna try it.
Skeletonbow, Lol. :) I love your idea for a bear army, but why stop there? There's several Trolls that owe me & Axii works on Cyclopses. Now if we can just persuade a few Earth Elementals to come along, we might stand a chance eh? Mind you, it'd be for the glory only. I've got a shed load of broken rakes & oars, & if anyone ever needs ashes, I'm your Witcher. :)

I'll try that but I'll probably get slaughtered. I find strong attacks very difficult to do. With the default controls it is "shift+attack" and the majority of the time when I press shift+attack Geralt stands there and does nothing. It seems like strong attacks only work occasionally if you've previously led up to them with fast attacks or some other random combos. I never could figure it out so I've played the whole game 99% with fast attack for the most part.

The problem though is I'm level 35 and that thing is level 48 which pretty much means if he hits me even once even lightly - I'm dead. So I'd have to hit it with a difficult to do strong attack probably 15-20 or more times to kill it and without getting hit myself at all. I don't think I can do that without being much higher level. It'd become too arcade-gamish for me to have to do all these specific attacks in a certain order while patting my belly and rubbing my head at the same time type of situation which feels like quick-timer-events to me which I hate. :)

But, I will give it a shot a few times anyway to see how I make out. The other thing I could do is reassign ability points with a potion and pump up the effect that potions have and increase maximum toxicity then rearrange my mutation tree, but I've never done that in the entire game and doing it just to fight one enemy seems like an immersion breaker for me.

We'll see what happens though... :)
skeletonbow. I had that same strong attack frustration for quite a lot of the early part of the game. Then I reassigned it to mouse buton 4 & that fixed it for me. 'course, you need a gaming mouse. :)
There seems to be a weird thing in W3 with some key functions. Originally, I reassigned it to MMB, but it still only worked randomly, so I tried M4 & that worked. I had bombs & crossbow on M4, so I've moved that to MMB & guess what? Yeah, that's now random too! :) Pretty sure it's not my mouse, as I've reassigned plenty other game key functions to Mouse buttons & they've always worked just fine, unless it's just developed a problem in coincidence with playing W3. :)
