I recently traded in my PS4 and used the money to buy a Ryzen chip for my pc. I went from AM3+ to AM4, and changed no graphical settings in The Witcher 3. I just wanted to point out using a GTX 1060, that the graphics seem to have almost doubled in quality just changing out the RAM, motherboard, and CPU.

IF you're considering upgrading, it seems to be well worth it. I have more testing to do, but the chip runs far, far cooler than my old FX 8320, too.

Just a heads up in real world performance, in case you're curious.

hey, what FPS do you get with your AMD based system?
I've build a new gaming rig based on Intels i7-9700k, only old part is my Asus ROG Strix GTX 1060 OC, wondering if there is a difference between the two systems ;)

P.P.S. I'm sure the old i7-4770k on Asus ROG Maximus Hero VI with 16GB DDR3 (4x4GB) Corsair 2133MHz (1600MHz stock) was the bottleneck before when playing, also games were on a slow SATAIII HDD and Win on standard SATAIII 256GB SSD.

Um I have it vsync'd to 60, because my card gets a lot of screen tearing. I could investigate and check, because tbh I'm kind of curious. Will edit soon!

EDIT: Average of 45-50 fps on Ultra, average of 65-70 fps on High in Witcher 3 with the new build.

Probably not as amazing as some people would expect, but my graphics card didn't used to be able to max Witcher 3 on Ultra above 30fps on the old system, depending on what I did.

The lowest it went on Ultra was about 41 fps, lowest on High was about 61.

Maybe not that amazing but anything around 60 FPS is good to play anyway ;)
What resolution? FHD or higher?

Atm I'm at 2560x1440 anything ultra with lowest at 56, didn't try yet without vsync, at one hand my 4k Asus monitor (one of the first Asus 4k/1ms) isn't fast enough, only 30 FPS at 4k and 60 FPS at 2560x1440 and by the other hand I have a lot stuff running in background like browser, downloads and many more cause my rigg needs a lot more and I have to learn how I get the perfect settings for me with all that new stuff. ;)
Couldn't resist to buy a new mouse and keybord too, wanted to have something in my eyes, showing me that there is really a new machine, so a Logitech G910 Orion Spectrum and a G502 Proteus Spectrum is under my hands xD
Btw running anything at stock speeds now, wanna see how it performs stock, but LM for the CPU and a DIY watercooling is waiting to raise the speed just a little.
However, the 1060 is the slowest part now, will reach 60 FPS continius with a little screwing on it's settings, but hey, compared to Skyrim the graphics in W3 looks really great without the need of countless mods, I love it!

Yepp, was thinking about an RTX but the good old 1060 performs not bad in W3 or even FORZA6 at 4k, so I think I can wait too ;)
Btw if you wanna see your cpu, gpu and ram loads and temps ingame, just use ARX what comes with the Logitech Gaming Software (free for everybody) and you can use your phone or tablet as contol monitor, my new stuff is that performant that there is a lot of headroom even with a lot stuff in background xD

Thanks for the heads up! Right now I use iCue with my keyboard and the RGB lights are set to 20, 45, and 85 degrees Celsius as a base for telling how warm my cpu is.

Do you eat lots of processed and unnatural foods?

Can play without problems @ maxed out except shadow on max, i play shadows medium cos shadows on max cause blackscreens in some situations of gameplay.
