I am including an image of the intended roach which is neither a roach nor a roach but a roach. (English is stupid)
When I said "american", it's because I guess it's american voices actors, but I know that english voice actors would have done the same pronounciation mistake.

When they see "Roche" they pronounce "Roach" instead of "Rosh", that's the problem.

If it was pronounced correctly no one would mistake Vernon with the name of the horse...

In W2 Geralt pronouces Vernon as -Roach- himself, so it sounds like Vernon Roach, coming from him.

But when I see -Roche- I do indeed see it to pronounce it as -Rosh-.

No matter which voice actor says it, it's the same mistake, made by an voice actor (or voice acting director).

Which is the correct pronounciation IMO.

Well, a mod or patch may fix this, but I doubt it is priority anywhere.

I was under the impression that the Polish word for "roach" is "karaluch", which isn't a prettier name for a horse :)

Well actually the polish name is Płotka which is a type of fish and not the bug ;)

Well the problem is that now I see quite a lot of people asking on forums "why did Geralt name his horse after Vernon Roche? is Roche dead or something?"


it just pisses me off... not these people, but the mistake made by the voice acting team since the beginning. They could at least realize their mistake in the Witcher 3 when suddenly they had to pronounce the same way two different names (with two different spellings), they could have seen that something was wrong on their side...

They should have spelled it correctly, Roche.

Well they write it correctly but they don't pronounce it correctly.

For a polish or a french, it's natural to pronounce Roche = "Rosh", but for an english speaking person, I guess what comes to their mind is "Roach"...

(Roche is a french name anyway, it means rock/stone.)
