foo_: No, it's for the fish. The original name is Płotka.
It is the fish... in german, the name of Geralts horse is "Plötze" - which is in fact the name of a fish.

btw: the german word "Plötze" and the polish word "Płotka" share the same slawic origin: "płoc".

Hmmm... in fact, "Americans" are ignorant... I mean... you name yourself an "American" ignoring the fact, that there are two Americas (North and South) with 35 nations. When you are "AMERICAN", what then the people of the other 34 nations? A dude from Mexico or Chile is an american too. ;)

In the meantime, could you please bring a bit more respect and tolerance to the party?

Including respect towards those who are not neurotypical. Which may include you.

Semantics...

I stand corrected though. I should have been literal and responded with North Americans, living in the Continental United States; not that the little bit of text below my join date wouldn't sufice.

Further, I was replying to another resident of the USA. So I think in this situation it's safe to assume my location, without the need to be region specific. =)

While they will survive so will humans. Do you realize that we can kill off 90% of the population tomorrow and have more people still alive then were alive during the 13th/14th centuries?

I don't ever see humans going extinct till the Earth itself can no longer support life or a big gamma ray burst hits us dead on.

S a d meaning go suck a dick? Is that what you meant to insult people who politely ask you to be nicer and less abusive towards them?

Come on man, GOG Galaxy atm has a great community. People are polite and helpful but eventually they will get upset when you keep showing such inpolite behavior.
Don't get me wrong, it's easy to be like that, there's no strength in it, it shows weakness of mind.
I'll also ask you, just be cool, chill out, take a deep breath, start again.

ty korli i will take ur advice i just want 2 note he calls me not neurotypical (=insane), well if some of t he others in this thread are what he considers neurotypical i hope 2 god im not lol

anyway i appreciate the levelheaded response if u guys want to debate roaches vs humans or w/e fine but thats not what this sthread is about i consider it finished for my purposes as i am right and all who disagree are wrong.
The main problem is not what the name of the horse means, it's the english voice acting in the game.

Vernon Roche should NOT be pronounced "Vernon ROACH". In polish, or in french, it's pronounced "Rosh".

It's because it seems that americains are unable to correctly pronounce the name of Vernon Roche that the confusion was born.

It should be pronounced Vernon Rosh, but now it's too late, as they already made the mistake in The Witcher 2, they had to continue with the same false pronounciation in the Witcher 3...

(add this to the bad translation of the name of the horse, and here is the result!)

You've been using autism as an insult. And there are many ways of being not neuropypical without being "insane", including Aspergers', ADHD, Synesthesia, SPD, dyspraxia, dysgraphia, hypersensitivity, eidetic memory and so on.

Tourette has a different effect, I'm not talking about that - but you sure are insulting and respectless in this thread.

If you appreciate levelheaded responses, it might help if you gave one yourself.

There certainly is a name for this condition as well.

Doesn't have anything to do with being American. Ignorance knows no borders. Plus, English is a horrid conversational language. I've written standard operating procedures in English, and to my surprise about 20% of the people who proofed it read something I didn't intend.
I'm Norwegian though, so what do I know.

I am including an image of the intended roach which is neither a roach nor a roach but a roach. (English is stupid)

m0nk3n: why (what) does fish has any resemblence to horse... ?
why not?

Not only Geralt names his horse Roach... he names EVERY SINGLE HORSE HE HAD, HAS AND WILL HAVE so.

It's a gag.

Why do people call their dog "Beethoven"? Doubt that the dog is capable in playing the piano...
beethoven was a name given. roach for a horse is more like a mockery. lazy developers.

well, i guess that's what DRM gets you. "i'm riding a roach, and even though there is a rider on him ("geralt") the horse cannot follow a simple road that bends either left nor right, but send me straight into the bushes and staggers on a pebble so i have to rotate him back into "DRM" world and continue the journey... worst horse ever. dumber than a gold fish with no IQ.

"Why not what?" horse doesnt even eat fish... not.carni.vore...

Read the books. You'll know why it's named Roach.
and why would i want to know that? "roach" wont stay on the road better if i do...
