I also love Gwent, much more than playing dice. Dice is almost always about chance, but with Gwent players have more control of the outcome. It takes a few trials to get the feel of the game, Afterward, it is pretty fun.
GWENT is the best mini game in any RPG i ever played

Agree 100%
Lets settle this discussion :P

Gwent is not horrible. You are horrible at Gwent :D

Nephilim88: I don't plan to do it even for the first time... maybe some day I will, when I'll re-play The Witcher 3 for the 4th or 5th time.
For example, in Final Fantasy IX, I started to put an effort in collecting all the cards and defeating Ozma YEARS after finishing the game for the first time, and something like the 6th or 7th playthrough.

CharlesGrey: IX had a card game? I never played IX, but I remember the card game from FF VIII.
You should, it's a wonderful game :) And yes, it had a card game: the Tetra Master (at least it's called so in the italian translation). It's curious, though, I've never played FFVIII. I started it, but at the beginning of disc 2 I found it so boring that I stopped playing XD
i've played until a point that i don't get gwent cards even if i played with the merchant for the 1st time =\
I am actually surprised they came up with such a great card game. I'd even buy it should it ever get printed.
Does the game difficulty affect Gwent? Because I am not a fan of the action combat so I only play the second lowest difficulty and found Gwent way too easy to win so far.
Hello,

I tried some Gwent Sessions after the tutorial. But the Gwent AI Players are cheating. Always get their best cards, you can reload as much as you want and they have cards like "play one, get two new of your deck".

The dice game was pleasent and not so time consuming and all players had the same chance. In Gwent you do not have that chance. Even games like MTG or Hearthstone give more options to win then Gwent.

Greets.

1) You can swap 2 cards at the start of the match
2) You can use weather effects so enemy "best cards" becomes 1
3) You can use leader abilities
4) spies and drop the first game so u'll have more cards
5) more tactics

So u can still win if enemy get his best cards.

Sometimes u dont have deck strong enough like in begining of the game but then u just need to get more cards, and yes, a bit of luck can't harm :)
you play vs an AI.. its piss easy... HERE is the fail prof tactic... get all spies spam them first round and then concede..

you are now 14-16 cards vs 8-10 .. bam you won every game.

That is a solid tactic against many decks but it's not bullet proof. If the AI happens to draw 3 - 4 healer cards, which is very common with Scoia'tael, that can blow up in your face. Especially if they have some decoy cards too.

but then you have you own healer cards, and a decoy... you will always end out drawing more than your enemy.. would it work vs a human player.. probably not, but this is an AI.

it dosn't have to be bullet proof, you can win all easy games like this and almost always win vs the though enemys. did the Gwent tournament with 1 reload vs the lady with a similar deck.

Funny I had the AI opponent use that very tactic on me and I still managed to win that game.
=)
Gwent is really fun. Once i got to understand the mechanics better i got good at it and its much more fun. The universal tactic i use is get the AI use most of his cards at round 1 and pass, then crush him in round 2,3 with combos
