I don't find it hard at all. Once you have decent cards and your head around how to use them, it's not really difficult. The passing system doesn't need revision as others have suggested; they simply just don't know how to adapt to it properly. Passing can be a very strategic move for instance; I like to pass the first round a lot of the time after using my spy cards. The enemy will think I'm going to try and beat him when all I do is pass and he's wasted some strong cards in the process.

If you have good weather cards you can also trick the enemy by adding units in the affected row, letting the enemy pass because he thinks he's beat you, then slap a clear weather card down and bam your 1's turn into something much more.

To summarise what could be a very large rant; find the strategies and don't just add cards to your deck for the sake of adding cards otherwise you're unnecessarily bloating your deck (I use 22 units, 1 of each weather effect, 3 horns, 2 decoys at the moment); realise that sometimes you will lose because you lucked out with a poor hand; consider taking a dive to give the enemy a round to remove their strong cards so you can counterattack.

So far I have beaten the Novigrad Uniques, and have only 1 unique left in Velen because I haven't been there yet. Just about every other shopkeeper, blacksmith and innkeep are beaten in the area too.

Gwint is more less like an expanded Blackjack for me.

You just have to guess if your opponent has enough cards of sufficient strength to beat your score. Bare in mind that from what I have noticed, you also have a limited number of cards for the whole 2 rounds. Also, combos do count a lot, so try to build your deck around a certain strategy or synergies.

And this is not a chaotic difficulty. I would compare it to mind games with your enemy. Just like in Poker :P

The only thing I find frustrating is getting enough cards to fill out the other decks. The actual playing isn't all that difficult, even the big city games are relatively straightforward.. I beat the dwarf at the bank place on my first go with only a few extra cards in my beginner's deck. There's definitely strategy that needs to be followed to win.. you can't just guess and hope to win by sheer luck.

I've just beaten Stjepan in Oxenfurt... without too much effort... and I swear I've only played 4 or 5 times with random people, and won only 2 times.

Gwent is surprisingly good for a game-in-a-game. accidently turned off all tutorials and had to guess wtf is happening for myself, but this was fun.


btw where can i buy other decks? or the only ay is collect 1-2 cards from merchants?
Wanted to play as mosters but i will collect them for ages..

I found once I troubled myself to get better cards the game really improves. However I still reckon the AI gets the upper hand abit too much.

yeah you will have to collect card by card.
Every merchant or inkeeper you play will give you one free card after you beat him/her.
And then there are tons and tons of "boss" gwent players that will give you really powerful cards and point out other players to play against for epic cards.

Yeah, it took me a while to get enough cards for the alternate decks too despite purchasing as many cards as I've been able to find and playing everyone I've come across that played too.

The first deck I managed to get the required 22 cards for was the Nilfgaardian one, then Scoia'tael shortly after. My best deck by far at the moment is the Nilfgaardian one as I have something like 6 Hero cards for that deck. Some 100 hours into the game and I still haven't got a completed Monster deck yet.

Physical decks would be nice but it was exclusive to XBoxOne Collector Edition that gave you two Gwent decks

As I thought, I needed to get the hang of this game... today I've beaten all the gwent quest players in Velen, except the innkeeper in Novigrad 'cause I still have to get there. It's an unforgiving game, though: if you make a mistake the punishment is hard...

Love Gwent. Would sure be nicer if you could somehow buy complete decks, especially for the second playthrough. I don't think I'm going to collect them all a second time.

IX had a card game? I never played IX, but I remember the card game from FF VIII.

As for Gwent, I think it gets better the more you play it ( and as you add more and better cards to your deck ).

Ya the game does get better the more you play and collect more cards, I was so addicted to the FFVIII card game i would spend more time playing cards then playing the game.
