I purchased Witcher from GOG and I am getting this error "GPU does not meet minimal requirements. Support for DirectX11 is required." Does anyone know a work around? My computer is older my not terribly old. Any help is appreciated.
we can only help you if you tell us what kind of pc you have.
What kind of graphics card?

It sounds like your pc is way too old/bad to run the game, so you probably can't play it.

Sorry, I have a laptop. Satellite L655D with an ATI Radeon 4200 Video card.
your laptop is far from being "strong" enough to run the game unfortunately

Unfortunately, that video card doesn't support DirectX 11. The rest of your specs are below the minimum requirements as well.
Here's a little tip that will help you in the future to determine if you meet the minimum system requirements: check CYRI (Can You Run It) before buying any game. If you don't know much about computers this is a greet little tool. I don't believe any game company gives a refund for your pc not meeting requirements, it's harsh for people new to pc gaming but promotes learning. Many people think that because they paid $750 for their preassembled computer only a few years ago that it is a good computer, this unfortunately is usually incorrect. You can get a decent build for that price if you build it yourself but prefab crap from stores adds 70-100% markup on components etc. and a high end gaming laptop will never beat a mid range full tower with good cooling. You can even get someone else to build for you if you're not comfortable doing ti yourself and save hundreds of dollars. Buy your components online for good deals then take them to a local shop or even a hobbyist. PC educational sites like PC Mag and especially Tom's Hardware can help you out if you decide to plan a rig. And if you know other people that want to start gaming on pc instead of consoles pass the info on so others don't make the same mistake. Sorry if that was a bit long winded but it seems that many experienced pc users just wont make the time to help out newcomers, I see a lot of forum posts where the only answers people are getting is boo hoo basically and I'd prefer a helpful response if it were me.
The same problem - "GPU does not meet minimal requirements. Support for DirectX11 is required."
Yesterday, after installing DLC, for some unknown reason, began to appear this error.

From your crash report it looks like you are using Galaxy with a Steam version of Witcher 3. Is that not a contradiction, and bound to cause anomalies and/or crashes?
The game is installed in a Steam folder, but run through a Galaxy, and up to this point, at least the game was launched, though sometimes crashes. Before installing I assumed that the collector's edition is also established in the Steam folder, like most games I have acquired.

If problem in this, then why up to this point has never been any error about the minimum requirements? How is this related?

Because Steam and Galaxy perform exactly the same tasks, except one is DRM and one is DRM-free. Having two clients trying to manage the same game is simply idiocy.
This is not correct, I know. Okay, I've already started to reinstall the game in GOG.
I hope this helps...

I have the same problem on a fairly powerful desktop computer, although a little bit dated. I purchased from Origin and they gave me my money back -- they have a satisfaction guarantee or your money back policy so long as you exercise that option within the specified time period. I was very disappointed that I couldn't play the game after waiting so long and following the progress of the development.

I have reinstalled the game, the problem still has not been solved.

The next step I need to reinstall the operating system, or what to do?
Sadly, the HD 4200 GPU does not support DX11, it's a DX10.1 GPU.

Now, some (very few) 10.1 cards, especially from AMD, did support some of the feature set of DX11. This is why maybe your card ran the game at an early stage and then when the game was updated by CDPR, they probably optimized/added/deleted/patched a part of the graphics engine which made the game unplayable on anything other than DX11 hardware. To be honest, you should have checked whether your system supported the game before you bought, but I understand that it's pointless telling you this now.

The only way of getting you to play this game now, is on a different computer. Sorry...

It would be helpful if you posted some of your PC specifications? I doubt very much that you have "...a fairly powerful desktop computer..." by today's standards. It may well have been a powerful system a few years ago, but a current 'fairly powerful system' would most probably have DX11 hardware support.

It sounds like you didn't do your homework either and your system is a little too outdated to run TW3. Sadly, you'll find yourself in this position more frequently as more games are switching to DX11 and in the future, to DX12. Technology moves forward at a pace, as you're now finding out.
