So this exists: https://grantrpickett.github.io/witcher3keyrebinder/

haven't played with it but looks promising, might need to set file to read only to force binds but i dont know... worth a shot!

I have no idea if the input.settings data/file it produces works :o) but I really hope it helps some people.

Thanks for the links.
Hey guys finally got a reply back from CD Projekt RED and it is good news I believe here is what they said regarding keyboard input and remapping of keys

Hello!

I'm really sorry to hear about the issue you're experiencing. Please, do not worry though, we are currently working on implementing the option to set your own keybindings and it will probably be available in the next patch.

Hope you still get to enjoy our game in full!

Cheers,

Andrzej Marut

so here's to hoping that it gets finally fixed in the next patch its pretty shitty though that we have to wait so long to play a great game

styggron: @Avalan

Indeed we shall.

You are completely correct of course, not a response from the dev team so I too would like something a little more concrete but this is all we have at present I fear and it is the best we have. :(

Avalan: Unfortunately, yes.

If you don't mind me asking, have you downloaded the game yet, or are you still waiting?
Hello Avalon,
No I don't mind at all. :) No I have not downloaded the game at all. The only thing I downloaded were the extras. I'm in no rush to be honest, I am just mindful of the 30 day refund policy. I also see I need quite a lot of HD space to even install it as it makes temporary files. Not sure how much but from what I can gather around 60-70 gig to install 40 or so gig. :( my poor poor laptop :)

From the most recent post on here it looks like CDPR are indeed listening, if this manifests itself as true, my trust in them will return from skeptic to "back to normal" :) I have had issue with other devs with all kinds of things before so sadly the "trust" thing is all exhausted with me and there is little goodwill left, only "I don't believe it until I see it" status. I've seen too much "yes we said that but we couldn't because of this and this etc etc" ...... so no more pre orders no more kickstarters for software for me. CDPR was the only exception to this because I like their ethos so much and there was lots of evidence to suggest "they are nice and different to others" :) If this key binding thing comes through, then they have indeed listened to accessiblity issues and in my book are clear winners and "great people" and I would trust them. :)

[UPDATE]
Also from reading the numerous issues with installing etc, ie have the pre load then use the day one patch etc. GoG did say somewhere that this will eventually be updated and it will just be a new "installer" per se. I might wait for that. Sure that might be months away but as I said I am in no rush really. I seriously do not want to download it and have issues with patching, I don't have the bandwidth that would allow such a luxury od redownloading anything. It would have to work right away. Sure it might work straight away but like I said, no rush. Never played any Witchers and I do not mind being patient whilst the bugs are ironed out :)

I think it is such positive news that we have had official word like this. CDPR do listen. So now, all we need to do is wait and see the results. They have clearly prioritised this and they realise it IS very important.

With their next release whatever it is, I bet people will ask first before pre ordering "can I rebind any key". I am unsure why they did this with W3 considering there seems to be evidence of the same issue with W2 so lets hope they will never be in this situation again. :)

Thank you SO much for posting this. It allays the fears of many of us with accessibility issues. :)

Lobuno: I do think they probably patch the game soon to add full key remapped.

Said so, I think they didn't advertised the game to include fully rebindable keys, so not sure if you can be so harsh on CDP on this. Luckily GOG politics on refunds are wider than this, so probably you won't have problems getting a refund yourself, although they technically did not anything "wrong". Also you say you have conflicting software for your condition that makes using autohotkey impossible for you, that is very unfortunate, and weird. Wonder what software is that and why that software don't includes some option similar to autohotkey (being for disabled persons), that seems very sad for that sofware developer.

I truly hope you get a solution.
I'm sorry, but a game shouldn't have to advertise such a feature, all games should have it. I don't have the problem the OP has, but to make a game unplayable for the disabled population because of not adding such a basic feature as key rebinding... It's ridiculous.

The OP has a right to a refund if CD Projekt Red have no plans to fix this. Sorry OP, hopefully CD Projekt does plan on adding the option to rebind keys.

Good news, thanks for passing it.
I may buy the game now. Still disappointed that something so basic and important wasn't in from release, though.
It's good to see the feedback received here, and I truly believe they are working on, and will provide solutions for us regarding the keybinding situation.

My issues were slightly tangential, as I wrote them about certain hard-coded keybinds linked to button prompts within the game (like loot screen), as well as linked 2ndry key-maps that are not listed in the Options screen (Horsejumping for example - is hard-coded to Space. I remapped jump, so I just found out, after 50 hours of play, that I could jump while on horseback)

Here's hoping they will be able to address *every* issue raised thus far.

Arghhh, bloody Reply Notifications. No idea what's going on.

Anyway :o)

Okay, I figured you were still holding out. Understandable if you're still within the 30 days.

As a detail, my install folder is just 25GB. Kinda amusing to say *just* 25GB :o) but maybe it needs extra space for temp files to install or...? Not sure. 60-70GB is a lot.

I'm so with you on the whole "I don't believe it until I see it". That's the thing for me. 'We're looking into.', 'We're working on finding the best possible solution.' and 1001 other things companies say, just don't mean anything to me now, until something is actually there and the general population are saying that it is indeed there and does indeed work.

As for the rest, and your Update, I think I would say (with a heavy heart) that I would not recommend The Witcher III to people as of *now*. I don't know if you're aware, but both The Witcher 1 and 2 brought out Enhanced Editions and they were very good. A lot of improvements, but those improvements were very much needed. I had hoped that after TW1&2, that the lessons had been learned and TW3 would have included many of those improvement on release. I don't think that's been the case. Even *regressing* with the rebinding issues.

If CDPR do come through with rebinding of keys and you decided to keep the game :o) then I would say it would be better for you to still wait a bit before finally downloading. Just my opinion, but the game has many frustrations. I know such things vary from person to person, but things like permanent storage, FOV, pulling back the camera from Geralt, sortable Inventory...

...actually, this thread is pretty good:

http://www.gog.com/forum/the_witcher_3_wild_hunt/wishlist_what_would_you_like_to_see_in_upcoming_patches/page1

We're back to "We'll see." :o)
@Avalan

Agree with you all the way. Even with the patch I am still waiting before downloading. I never played any Witcher games, I have them on GoG though. I agree if they "regressed" and went back to the "old ways" that is very puzzling.

I shall indeed wait. Thank you for your advice, I was planning on this but you helped to cement my decision. I really would rather wait until the whole installer was different too, ie no day one patch etc. I read far too many installation issues even which is scary.

Actually I would very much like to PM you as I have a question that might be a little controversial here on the forums although there have been some threads on it but I have no wish to "stir anything up" it is just an open honest question with no pretense. Would you mind if I send you a PM ?

Thanks Avalan. :)
CDPR just released 1.04 patch. The first fix of the changelog is:
Rebinding any key is now available after switching Unlock Bindings option in Options \ Key bindings submenu.
Enjoy!! :)
avatar
Avalan: We're back to "We'll see." :o)
Well, we see today: Patch 1.04 is supposed to fix the keybinding issues.

Yay? :)
I think its pretty sad people have to resort to bashing on disabled people in defense of a game. Talk about a resounding lack of compassion. Guess who else insulted disabled people for their problems, Nazis.

This is really something CDPR should look into, and fanboys. Witcher 3 is a great game, universally known, you don't need to bash disabled players in some imaginary defense front, theres just no need.

I am disabled too, though in my legs, I cant really do Kinect, but controllers are fine, that being said at least the disabled bashers arent any where near as bad as Microsoft's Fanboys who mercilessly attacked disabled people for pointing out issues.
