The game started out fine but over time glitches have started appearing.

Bodies will go flying around strangely. I killed an Endrega Warrior and its body took off up a hill in a series of bounds, but the loot stayed behind, for example.

The controls sometimes go whacky too as I can not steer a boat suddenly, then just as suddenly it starts working again.

I maintain the puter well with very regular scans and defrags plus latest drivers, but it feels like the game is gradually becoming corrupted.

Is there any way to test this?
You can verify and repair it but there is plenty of games that every now and then do strange things. If you had a very close save you could go back and load it and I would bet it doesn't happen again.

Have you updated you graphics drivers and included the latest physics drivers?
This actually happens quite often. One time i saw a strange looking horse, like an Apaloosa. When i got closer it suddenly had three heads! It was three horses in the same spot. I also see similar effects with soldiers and dwarves pretty much everywhere.

How can the game be verified and repaired? I do not want to do a reinstall as I am past the battle for Kaer Morhen.

This is an all AMD system:
AMD FX 8370@5ghz
16gb G Skill ram at 2014 mhz
AMD Fury Nitro with Crimson 16.9.2 drivers
Win X Anniversary
All drivers are the latest.

That's irrelevant. You will lose nothing by uninstalling and reinstalling, so long as you tell the uninstaller to keep your saved games.

Ah, that explains a lot...
Indeed as most games run flawlessly while this one is a mess. Last night I found a boat inside a boat and a tree floating waist high above the ground.

It has also started crashing regularly and also minimizing itself while other games that have been on these hard drives for 5-8 years are still running fine.

All I use is AMD and I have no such problems....;)
I don't think I have had this stacked NPC bug (ever) before installing the BaW / HoS DLC. In my game, it's a rare thing to happen.

(1) When does the bug appear: Has anybody noticed a pattern, like, after fast travel / reload?

(2) I believe, in my game (again, BaW/HoS), it's always three NPCs in a stack. Can anyone confirm this? If so, does the number Three become Two / One when disabling one / both of the DLCs?

IF (1) & (2)
THEN that would be worth a bug report.
ELSE Oh, well, it's a glitch.

^_^
Yes, trying to blame this on AMD is at the level of a ghoul. Definitely far below the level of a troll.

I never fast travel except when going from Velen to Skellige, for example. I also play for hours at a time with most of that time being spent just riding Roach around and enjoying the world.

I do not yet have any DLC installed. Just the game. I must say that all I have seen in quite a while is objects floating in midair.
How badly does does this effect your game?

To put it simply the collision detection isn't very good in this game and the enemy weightlessness I have observed quite a bit too, I'm running a 4970k, 16GB RAM, GTX 750ti. I don't see it as a bug but a characteristic of the engine, at first I thought it must have been using havok - I think witcher 2 does, you often see this in games such as the souls' series where bodies become weightless, I have no idea why they keep it in but the demon's souls and dark souls fans tend to view it with some effection now.

But I do often encounter problems such as Geralt being unable to dive while swimming, the HUD icon is present but when you push the button it doesn't do anything - I just need to save and exit and re-enter the game and that fixes it, it desn't happen all the time but maybe around three times in a playthrough, obviously you only spend a fraction of the time in water. A more common problem is Roach not appearing when summoned - obviously the terrible path finding of Roach is just a characteristic of the game engine (really annoying when roach keeps running away from you too or running through the the middle of a fight).

I have had various unsolvable quests due to things been done out of order, the shortcut mini-quest for instance was well known to glitch if you found the treasure before finding the note, leaving the quest unsolved in the log, as did Freya be praised. Alot of other issues I've had I put down to mods being installed, you can never tell what conflicts they might cause, over time I have also had to learn the hardway when I can't use fast travel from anywhere.

Overall the game has had a slew of bugs which have been ironed out, anyone remember the broken arm glitch for instance?

Ah, so it's not that, then. Was a shot in the dark anyway. Maybe the bug has been introduced with one of the latest updates - or I was just lucky before.

Oh, and my box is Asus/Nvidia.

Enjoy your ride - I know I do. n_n
Addendum.

I finished the game and while going after the question marks for a while I installed the DLC and it has made a difference in game play. Mostly for the better.

I have only seen one gender blender and it was two guys walking in a cave in Skellige. Those things happen.

The mobs of people in the cities work as expected and I can deal with the wandering merchants instead of getting caught in an endless loop.

Now the only time Roach does not appear is when he gets caught in some terrain obstacle and a short walk by me fixes that.

So overall it seems I had some sort of problem with the original install that the DLC fixed.

Oh, this is with version 1.31.

Well, it's ironic, but after reading your post about these glitches, suddenly I began seeing a few things popup strangely...;) Yesterday I saw a bow just levitating on a Novigrad street, about three feet above the ground. Then I noticed when on a particular ship the minimap displays ocean water underneath instead of the the ship--although the people are denoted correctly with respect to location, etc. There were a couple of other things like that which surely look like game-engine bugs. (I'm running the GOTY edition on Steam.) However, these things are all very trivial bugs that don't get in the way or prevent me from carrying out a quest, etc.--No showstoppers in other words.

One thing I did was to start a new game when 1.30 was released, thinking that would be the final patch. But then CPDR surprised me with 1.31--and I have continued to play the game from my 1.30 save-games--which *seem* to work fine, but with these kinds of pesky, minor bugs, who knows?...;) But I think that today I will reinstall the GOTY version from scratch as I have been playing all along with the incrementally patched version of the game--so we shall see if that makes any difference here.
