So, I am at the point where I am to travel to Skellige to follow Ciri. I talk to the boat captain, the cut scene starts, then the game crashes. I tried 5 times then rebooted, and tried another 3 times. Then, I started from further back in the quest line, and I still crash. I can no longer play. This game has been one long frustration after another.

Anyone else having this same issue where game is crashing at this point in the quest line continuously?

I have never bought a game fresh out, but I was anticipating this after playing the previous 2 games. I'll never repeat this mistake. I read the creators spent 3 years building this game. Seems like it could have used another 6 months in QC before releasing.

Have you checked out these instructions? It might narrow things down a bit. Also, I would try loading an earlier "savegame", see if the same problem occurs.

I've had plenty of "CTD's" today, during various missions and non missions too, and it's annoying to say the least.

Yup, I restarted with an earlier save after 1 reboot. I was already following the instructions you linked, unknowingly though, except for the 2 monitors. I have been playing all along with 2 monitors going, but I will try unhooking 2nd and seeing if it makes a difference. Thanks for the reply.

Hi,

Is there a fix for this? Same thing is happening here. The instruction page linked earlier in this thread has gone (404)

PC Specs
Windows 10
i7 6700k
gtx980ti
16gb ddr4
SSD
It was the 2 monitors the whole time. I had the same problem on my 2nd and 3rd play thru. Each time, I unhooked the 2nd monitor and I was able to go past the the crash point. Afterwards, I was able to play with 2 monitors without any issues. Seems strange that only this one point in the game has a crash point because of having 2 monitors hooked up.

hope this helps.

flash145:
I only have the one monitor.. Maybe its to do with my Vive being plugged in.. Will try it with it removed.. I have tried earlier saves, lowered settings, full scree, windowed.. loads of reboots. I've had no joy so far
Sounds like there could be corrupted game-files in play. Try this:

If you are playing on GOG Galaxy go to: More --> Manage installation --> Verify / Repair.

If you have downloaded the game manually you will need to download it again and reinstall (you can save your savegames - no pun intended).
