I was looking in the user.settings file and it seems like changing the movie frame-rate (or any of these settings for that matter) has no effect in the game.

I've tried all combinations of saving it as a read only file, altering the BAK file, and even going into the bin / visuals.ini file and altering the limit there.

Does anyone have a fix for this on the GOG client?

Also, along the same lines, anyway we can change so that the default setting (when you start up the game) is full screen and not the large window middle option?

I just hate changing it every-time I go into the client.

It seems like (because we are working through the gog client) the user.settings file changes (or any bin changes) are not being applied in game.

Optionally; has anyone found a solution as to how to maybe liberate the game from the gog client and make it it's own separate install that can be launched outside of GOG?

Thanks again!

But it can be launched outside client without any additional work. Just run the game .exe directly

Thanks Thiev!

I'll see if my user.settings and ini file alterations apply after running the .exe file directly.

I think when I tried last night though, clicking on the .exe file brought me to the gog galaxy launcher?

Does that sound correct?

Do you guys have any info or solutions on the User.Settings file being applied, making full screen default (probably tied to that first one), or having the ini file alterations be applied while going through Gog Galaxy?

The shortcut on your desktop leads to the game in Galaxy Client, but you can easily make your own that points directly to the {game_folder}\bin\x64\witcher3.exe

the .ini file, if found outside game folder (and user settings are in Documents\ The Witcher 3, I think) should in no way be overwritten. Are you certain no other application (like GF Experience) interferes?

Yea I don't have ge-force experience installed. I did a clean DDU in safe mode and then downloaded the newest driver. Did the custom install and only installed the driver. No other non essential Nvidia interfaces are running.

The weird thing is that they are not being overwritten.

Basically, the user.settings (under Visual) has the FPS changed from 30 to 60
The Visual INI file (located under bin/visuals.ini) has ubersampling as false and the 30 changed to 60.

Theoretically this should be fixing the FMV cut scene issue.

However I'll load the game, start a new one to test it out, and the FPS will still be limited to around 30ish.

Now, I've gone into my nvidia control panel and tried just letting the default global settings profile apply to W3 (I was running adaptive sync since Vsync in game is just really poor quality and a couple other settings). To be clear; I went into the NVidia Panel to DISABLE THESE AND TURN OFF ALL TYPES OF SYNC

Tested again - still 27-30 fps.

Went back into the user.settings and visual.ini file and the values are still what I had set them as (60,false, 60).

This leads me to conclude that they are not being applied.

On your version of the game has this fix worked for the beginning cut scene? I'm not trying to get too worked up over it, it's just that should there be other scenes like that later in the game I'd definitely like them to be fixed now while I'm delving into all these files (example wild hunt scene right after training).

Does GOG Galaxy have an internal setting where it recognizes your config file are out of sync and applies the default ones stored for the Witcher 3? This might be why settings are not being applied?

Thanks again for all your help!

Wouldn't V-Sync be responsilble for that FPS limit?

You'd think it would be that easy. But I turned it off on the in-game settings and in my NVidia control panel and I STILL had the same issue with the opening FMV scenes.

Windowed vs Full Screen seems to give no effect.

I can also confirm that all these syncs are OFF because my opening menu and the opening animations with the CD P-RED logo are all uncapped and running >100
