Have had the game on gog for awhile, but I just bought it on steam because I prefer all my games under one library, i copied the entire game folder of W3 and threw it into the steam folder where all your games go but after I click install steam isn't reading any of the copied files and its making me redownload the game

has anyone encountered this problem and have a solution besides redownload the game?

Thanks :)

And no I dont want to be questioned why I bought another copy if I already owned one etc just please answer the topic title.

That's not how you add games to Steam. In Steam go to Games >> Add a Non-Steam Game to my Library, then find the witcher3.exe within your GOG installation.
