I reinstalled windows a bit ago and subsequently redownloaded all my games and clients. Upon reopening GOG and Witcher 3 I tried to load my previous save only to find that it is not there. On the overview page of the game in GOG before launching the game it shows my recent save and activity but it is not found once I launch the game. Is there any way to recover this save as the file is most certainly not on my computer anymore, to my knowledge.

Did you upgrade to Windows 10, by any chance?
There's this known problem where the game will be unable to find your old saves, since Windows 10 uses another location to save your gamesaves, hence they can appear to be "lost". The solution to this is simply copying/moving the files over to the new location.

Win 7/8: C:\Users\username\Documents\The Witcher 3\gamesaves

Win 10: C:\Users\username\OneDrive\Documents\The Witcher 3\gamesaves

WildHobgoblin, I did just upgrade to WIndows10 recently. However, I actually found my save location where you listed for windows 7 since the harddrive I have witcher 3 installed on does not have my OS (and therefor OneDrive). However, this means the game save is still not on my computer so I will have to do as AI Person suggests I suppose to recover the save.
