If on Ciri you
- say "Relax, you don’t have to be good at everything." (-) instead of "Think I know what might lift your spirits." (+)
- accept payment for delivering ciri (-) even though you think it's funny to do work and private at same time and would have told her earlier her father has a price on her head if the game would let you.
- accompany ciri to sorceresses (-). Even ciri says it's a good idea so they won't have funny behind scenes talks.
- say "go for it" (+) if she wants to destroy avallac's laboratory
- accompany her to visit a dead friend of hers (+)
..you can always say that she should do what she wants, even steal horses because you think it will cheer her up, doesen't matter:
YOU GET FUCKED AND DIE ALONE IN A SHED.
Each time I said I love Triss and no to Yennifer and the last talk with Triss acknowledging I want to go to Kovir with her.
NOPE. STILL GET FUCKED AND DIE ALONE. OVERRULED BY CIRI LOLOL
Well, I'm done with this for a while... I respect the artistic direction, but I think that's a little bit hefty.
In Witcher 1 it was cool that the little kid always turned out evil no matter what good advice you think you're giving him.... but it was okay because he's the one getting fucked in the end. But here... maaaaaaan.
Ciri even say's "it's not your story" before entering the light. Well, you know what? Make a movie, not a game.

Lol. There are 3 main endings, with different world status depending on your choices regarding other characters. Maybe you should try to get them, or give them a look at least.

I agree with your sentiment, some of what seem like very minor decisions have a serious outcome in terms of the story. I pretty much got lucky my first time round and made the right decisions. But what makes this worse is that these decisions are often timed decisions and you don't have time to think through why you should make the choice.

Not sure if there is also some table in the background that weighs up all the decisions you make in game such as killing people or letting them live, clearing areas so people can move back in, not taking money for some quests etc... but if the above are the sole dictator as to the outcome that's pretty harsh I think.

Thank you! I really needed that after everything went to shit, i.e. red baron hanged himself because i freed some tree ghost which turned to a terminator horse and wiped a village and cutesie Keira got spiked because I told her to do what she wants to do.
As for the other things, I tried to only kill on defense and cleared all question marks. I did take money from everybody though. Seems like the right thing to do in this realistic universe. This is not Baldurs Gate with a "hero-meter" visible for everybody I tought...

As for replaying, I regret nothing and would play the same, so I will not replay just to press another button on 3 occasions (or one suffices in my case).
Anyways, I'm dead and in a hut now (did not even see me in the "concept art outro slides"). I think I'll get over it though, after a day of sadness I really respect Project Red for even doing such harsh endings. I just wasn't expecting it at that moment..... In my mind I was already in Kovir with Triss, so that scene really came like a slap in my face :|
I'm done with Witcher: Butterfly Effect for now though, I'll skip the DLC for now ;)

I threw snowballs at her, I didn't accept payment from father. I accompanied her to her meeting with the lodge. I helped her destroy Avallac's laboratory. I accompanied her to visit her dead friend. I grudgingly accepted helping her steal the horses but resisted as much as possible till the end.
I've supported triss and agreed with her to our future house. and Ciri joined me as a witcher then went on her own I retired with triss. It worked out perfect for me.

I don't understand how it works but it worked for me rather well. I was almost upset in the end when ciri left to the gate to stop the frost but showed up later on. I guess it was to trick me and it worked XD. I really believed she wouldn't make it.. Glad we fooled avallac. He was an ass.

Wow looks to me like the only thing you did differently to myself was accompany Ciri to the meeting with the sorceresses and you got the Ciri is a witcher ending rather than her becoming Empress. That's a lot of outcome riding on one "SEEEMINGLY & AMBIGUOUS" choice, if that's all it is based on.

Does something somewhere state what how the outcomes are arrived at based on your actions???

No it only showed 3 day dream events when she was trying to stop the winter. Snow ball fight. Dead friend and busting up Avallac's lab. Then I got the sword for ciri and met her a the inn. I didn't know what I was doing for the first time but it was funny. I thought ciri was dead and the sword was a special reward to me for finishing the game... Felt sensitive naming it but felt right. Told the emperor that she's dead and that she love him in her own way. Avallac had assumed ciri was dead saving us all. Those three memories in my story seemed to be the key that she valued most about our father daughter relationship. I knew she was under alot of stress and wanted to have fun with her letting out her steam. What I do with my RL daughter when things are frustrating.. we go buy something and smash it for fun. Our toaster is on the fritz... so this weekend we're going to get the hammers and well.... :P

LOL you whack that toaster!!!!!!

I find it funny how developers (and immediately think of ME3) build these amazing, beautiful, complex and intriguing worlds and yet somehow don't understand the way their fans play the game and why. I am not being critical W3 and ME3 are 2 of my all time favorite games, however to have the outcome of a 100+ hour game spin on 5 or so choices out of the thousands you made playing, seems lazy. If I hadn't read about the situations that affect the outcome in W3 I never would have known to focus on those decisions. They needed to be more obvious or the game needed to base the outcomes on more of the decisions you made during the game IMHO.
