Apparently lots of us have the same trouble:

The game freeze randomly ( Understand it can be anywhere and anytime )
THe picture can freeze or go to black screen, often with voice and music still playing, pointer freeze and not imput give a reaction. Only the alt-tab and CTRL-Shift-Esc and we can reach others windows only if we are in windowed or borderless since the fullscreen bloch the game in front of everything and force us to reset.
It doesn't seems to crash after a specific amount of time nor a specific hardware, appeently AMD/ATI are affected like Nvidia users.
It doesn't seems to be related of Fullscreen, borderless or windowed.
nor a resolution, nor specific graphics settings.

We tried to reverse to older drivers ( The 347.88 in my case.)

The fact is : It's really annoying, since it breaks our enthousiasm and immersion on the game and make us sad to aven dispended 43€ in this game that is not ( even after being delayed ) bug free. ( even if this is the only real issues till now.)

It's a good game and I really hope to enjoy it as soon as possible.

Please post here your configuration, including.OS, CPU, RAM ( the amount is enought we all have DDR3 ), GPU, graphic drivers version,
No need to precise others settings since it doesn't seems to affect the issue.

Have to give the exemple.
Still random crash

Windows 8.4 64 bits
AMD FX 8320
8 GB
Gainwar GTX 570 GLH
drivers 352.86 ( allready tested 347.88 )

Edit.

For those who want to provide a solution. Know it's OK you can. But we don't want your shitty solutions, has underclocking, overclocking, get to old drivers.

We already know these won't work.

So stop spamming the subject. create your own thread to give your idea.
Here is to gather different configs where the problem appears.

Till now we know it is not driver related ( since it appears in Both ATI/Nvidia Rigs
No OS related all recent windows are affected
and it is not only for High end or low end config
( For what I know i7, TitanX, R290 and others aren't low )

Computer freezes during cut-scenes and during gameplay. Often at the same place. Have to restart computer. Actually right now it freezes when riding with Vesimir after the scavenger attack. I have a feeling its a cut-scene that is about to start, but not sure. And I cant get past that point, so right now the game is unplayable for me.

Windows mode makes no difference. With every graphics setting at low, my graphic card downclocked (from stock), and no graphic card-managing programs running, still the same freezes.

Intel i7-870 (2,93GHz)
8GB RAM
XFX Radeon R9 280 3GB (latest non-beta driver, Catalyst 14.5)
Win 7 64bit

Random freezing here too

Windows 8.1 64-bit
AMD FX-6300
12GB RAM
MSI Radeon R9 270 (Catalyst 15.4 Beta)
The game is frequently freezing for me too. Almost every time when I go to the inventory. It is quite unplayable in this state. I heard i should play in borderless window instead os full screen, but not that helped, it freezed up in 10 seconds. This issue is hitting both AMD and Nvidia users, please fix it fast, its very annoying.

My game is from GOG.com, and I am using the Galaxy client too.

My rig:

Windows 8.1 Pro X64
8 GB 1866Mhz DDR3
AMD FX 8350
Gigabyte Radeon 7970 GHz Edition 3GB
Catalyst 15.4 beta driver (the latest driver)
Exact same thing as the OP.

Windows 7 x64
i5-3570K @ 4,2 GHz
8 GB @ 1600MHz Ram
Radeon HD7870
Catalyst 14,5

Same here

Win7 x64
i74770K
16GB @ 1333MHz
Geforce GTX 770

Installed through Galaxy.
Don't bother trying to find a work around with the random game freeze crashes. It is a broken game. We have to wait for a fix. From they're own forums they're aware of this issue. Your not alone in this. Alot of people having issues for the PC.
I had random freezing this i put down to me overclocking my 290 , but it was overclocked to my regular and well tested overclocking settings......one thing that seems to of made a lot of difference.

Set the frame rate to unlimited...... since doing that , i have not suffered any random lock ups.
I've had a few crashes, nothing is overclocked in my system. I have noticed after going through the system logs this morning that both times it crashed yesterday corsairlink.exe threw up errors. There is an update for it so I might install it and see if it helps at all and if not fully remove it.

i7 5820K
32GB
EVGA Titan X - latest drivers
Win 8.1 pro 64bit

Same here, random freeze and crash, especially when I use inventory. I've tried different drivers, the issue still remains, but when I disabled every applications that related to my graphic card and sound card, and turn on the hardware crusor, the game somehow becomes more stable.

Specs: GTX970, I5-3470, Win7-64bit, 8GB ram

As soon as I enter new game and the first cutscene with the fireplace begins game freezes. I tried countles different things. (different drivers etc.) I even reinstalled windows from stratch. I found out that game causes the display driver to become unresponsive. Basically display driver crashes and restarts and that is why we hear sound but no more graphics.

SOLUTION (WORKS FOR A WHILE AT LEAST)
Last night I thought maybe it is becoming too taxing for the card so I lowered my gpu and vram clocks about 100 point each. And lowered power level for the card %5. I was happily playing the game than bam! just the same thing all over again.

Basically game raises the clocks too much too soon. And the card -at least some peoples cards no matter the brand or driver version- crashes and restarts. And in some cases even locks up computer or resets. If the card was at fault I would have seen this before elsewhere. I am an avid gamer. Other games do that too but never had this kind of problem before. Even with benchmarking stress testing gpu I've never had this kind of lockups.

I am having similar to this as well. Playing along and my fullscreen game will minimize on its own, stuttering with a black screen at first, then the game just minimizes to the task bar. I can still hear everything going on and have no cursor available. I have to alt-tab to a different open window to regain control of my cursor then force close the game.

I have the following:

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980 Driver Version 352.86
32.0 GB RAM
i7-4790K
Windows 7 Professional
