Is there a way to stop the game from deleting Checkpoint saves?

I find them to have fairly decent timing, so if they weren't deleted it would allow me to play the game a lot more smoothly, without worrying about making regular separate saves (in case of bugs etc).

Thanks!

How many do you have as there is a default limit of five.Which would mean, that
if it makes six one would auto delete or override (assuming oldest checkpoint save).

I think I can only have 3 checkpoint saves at once, then the first is deleted. It might be 5 with the autosaves too though, I'm unsure. Oddly I think the game only started deleting saves after installing patch 1.04.

Any way to disable this completely so there is no limit?

I don't think so at the moment. Not sure if disable completely is a good idea, you will
end up with too big a folder. They may extend to say 10 in a patch.Don't know.

My saves are around 350kb on average if you include their thumbnail. Even taking into considering save-bloating further into the game I could have thousands without issue. I suspect most people on PC could.

An option would be excellent.

Ok,didn't realize they were that small and I'm sure someone will come up with an option.
What use could have a save that is 5 or even 10 hours old? By the way I see it, it's fine the way it is... even if it would be possible to have unlimited auto-saves, I would delete the oldest manually...

With a limit of 3 checkpoint saves you're sometimes talking about saves that are 30 minutes old or less being deleted, nevermind 5-10 hours. In a complex RPG there are often reasons to reload, especially in a new, open-world game that still has many bugs. For example I had a quest break purely because I explored too much before starting it (it skipped steps and got confused). I had to go back several hours, by which point my checkpoint saves were long gone. Really didn't expect someone to ask me why I'd want to use older saves in an RPG.

@gunsynd - me too, thanks for responding dude.

Wow... talk about the kindness of strangers... didn't expect someone to be so rude about such a silly thing

You questioned why I would want to use older saves and I explained. Sorry if it came across rude, it wasn't meant to be.
In Witcher 2 the saves were larger (the .jpg that was with the sav file was higher res). If someone made a lot of saves, you would find slowdowns - so an easy solution was to organize and move your old saves to another directory.

That still makes a lot of sense with W3, as you can organize your saves in folders that have meaning to you. I just keep a dozen or so in my main folder and try to organize the older ones after the end of a gaming session. But, I save a lot, LOL.
