fuggernugget4: Just let me live my fantasy in which CD Projekt Red is King and God at the same time.
You are free, and have my blessing, to live your fantasy how you see fit. Just so long as it harms no one, or causes holy wars. I have no problem with people running around in Trenchcoats dressed as Neo, so long as it makes them happy and they don't try and de-rez someone else (dammit, mixing up Tron and the Matrix again!).
You are just as entitled to your opinion as anyone else; everyone else though tend to forget this all too often.
Sinophile: You better be trolling, OP. The Witcher is far from perfect. Bioware games have better writing. What I do like about W3 is the detective work that goes into each mission, and the amount of depth that goes into gameplay. There are still things that Bioware does better though.
Brashen: I love Bioware games. However, recently their writing has been lowered all too often to teen novel level. Although I've noticed this a couple times in Wild Hunt, it's writing overall is at a much more mature level than the latest Bioware offering. Don't get me wrong, I have over 200 hrs into Inquisition, but the writing is definitely NOT up to Wild Hunt standards.
Although I found the gameplay a little lacking in Pillars of Eternity, the writers did an incredible job. Just sayin...
The writing in ME3 was nothing short of a joke.
Bioware has been pushed to satisfy the kiddie crowd. Their writing has, in my opinion, suffered for it. Of course I'm sure the opinion of 13 year olds will be radically different than mine.
Why has Bioware changed? Well, just look at their owners.
The difference between CDPR and Bioware currently is like the difference between reading A Song of Ice and Fire and Harry Potter. Both are very good to their target audiences, but I'll stick with Martin over, well, whoever writes Harry Potter.
I don't know about that, the couple of times I really tried to play Baldurs Gate 2 I cringed at some of the dialogue and the game failed to draw me into its story (and I really gave it a shot and around 10 hours). The characters just did not seem interesting to me, the guy with the gerbil really made me grate my teeth! He felt like he was written to appeal to 4 year olds.
I enjoyed ME1 and 2, did not play 3 so cannot comment there. I also failed to get into Dragon Age 1, though may give it another go sometime in the future. Apparently Bioware games have been hit and miss for me, but the Witcher games all drew me in.
As they say, different strokes for different folks ...
