I was riding to the castle when suddenly a message appeared stating that I had reached the point of no return, outstanding quests would not be able to be completed. Do I continue or do any outstanding quests, like treasure hunt quest etc. or not?
The only quest which you have to complete before venturing there is "The Warble of a Smitten Knight". It should also be noted that you will not be able to access your stash for quite awhile, so you should pick your endgame gear at this point. Everything will be accessible once you have finished the main-quest.

From what you say it would appear that I am nearing the end of Blood and Wine.
I still have many question mark places on the map to investigate.
All the manuscripts for the Witcher gear are about 10 levels lower than me so there is no need for
me to continue with Witcher gear hunts.
If I could offer a hint... Ensure you bring along a number of repair kits and food with you. As noted above, you will not have access to a shop of smith for a long period that will be filled with some difficult fights.

I don't eat food. Not sure of the need when I have superior swallow equipped and if all the potions are used up then I can still equip normal swallow. Is there any advantage in equipping food instead?

Emergency healing. Swallow heals vitality. Food heals vitality. Swallow gives toxicity. Food does not. Take the Gourmet perk and food heals far better than even superior Swallow. You should pick your food wisely: keep all foods that heal 80 (fried fish, ham sandwich etc.) A little comparison:

Swallow heals 40 vitality for 20 seconds == 800 HP.
Ham Sandwich heals 80 vitality for 10 seconds == 800 HP (no toxicity)
Superior white raffard decoction heals 100% vitality immediately at the cost 30 toxicity.
If you don't get hit too much, you'll be fine with that.

Interesting comparison. I am currently using white honey to cancel all toxicity.
