I own the Origin version of Witcher 3. I want to leave Origin and I am willing to re-purchase (ouch!) the game . I have backups of my saved files. Can I use those saves with this platform? I really hate to start over.

The answer is almost certainly "Yes, you can." There's no reason why should format of the saved files be different for different platforms. If you want to remove the word "Almost" out of this sentence, put one of your saves (the .SAV and the .PNG files of the same name) on an online sharing service like dropbox and I'll try loading it in my GOG copy of the game. But I'm almost certain you should be fine, the only thing preventing me from saying I'm 100% certain is that I have never tried.

Thanks so much for responding! It makes sense to me that it should work but I wondered if some sort of proprietary line might be encoded in the .sav file. It would be great if you could try loading one of my saves before I buy the game again.

Oh all right, I'm not comfortable sharing my email address with strangers, but you can also just use this. Just pick a file/files and send me the link. I'm not sure how secure this method is, but worst case scenario: An evil misfit will play your Geralt in his Witcher 3. Oh and it might be a good idea to edit your email address out of your post, generally not a good idea to have those laying on public spots of the interwebz.

Thanks. I sorta figured that about the email address in the post and I don't blame you for being cautious. thanks for the suggestion to remove it.

Here is the link to the files I uploaded. I didn't know about that site. Easy! http://mysharegadget.com/562069182

Loaded your game, emptied your inventory, killed a few bandits, it works absolutely fine. You should work on your encumbrance problem :-P

LOL, yeah, in my house as well. In my defense though, that was a slightly older save and I lightened up quite a bit. I think...... I'm newish to single person games, having spent way too many years playing MMO's. When I last played EQ2 I had virtually unlimited storage. Of course I really didn't need anything anymore. Sorta like getting old irl.

Anyway, thanks for your help. It's really cool that people are so willing to help. I'll try to do the same if I ever have the opportunity.
