Definitely agree, I would like the option to disable auto sheathing and auto drawing.

ShadouWolf21: The auto-sheathe happens when you aren't in combat anymore which I don't mind even tho it did got me killed quite often, what I don't like is what causes you to get out of combat so easily is that mobs have a certain leash range (leash as in a certain distance in which a mobs reset/runs back to their spot) they will leash back to their spot thus losing combat and it seems really small I tested it a few times to manipulate how many ghouls follow me so I can fight em one at a time, it sucks cuz it ruins the flow and I'll have to chase em while they are running back. Only good news is that I guess their hp doesn't reset.
Tricking enemies to fight them one by one I enjoy but the idea that they reset? Do they get invulnerable and "float" back? That always happens in every MMO and it sucks.

bobmartien: Geralt auto-sheathe when he is no more in "combat".
So, if you are "too far" from enemies, he left the "fight".

And please, use the metric system.

cabooselol22: I'm aware of that, but he doesn't always do so which is weird. But when he does, it's usually when there are still enemies around, just not in combat range. But, still close enough for you to see them or a couple paces puts him back into combat.

I'm actually curious as to why they gave him an auto-sheathe being that there are 2 manual ways to do so. C and the button the weapon is bound to.
Yes. And there have been more times than I can count where I have been riding my horse into town and realise my sword is still in my hand and I need to sheathe it manually.

It would definitely be better if the game just taught us to manually sheath.
This annoying feature is my main concern with this wonderful game.
- it is buggy
- it breaks immersion
- it is made for casuals.

Please allow us to disable it.

You're god damn right. This is one of the elements of the game that genuinely pisses me off. Let me play the game myself, CDPR. Stop overriding my agency as a player. This mechanic makes the sheath buttons completely useless.

A simple auto-sheath toggle option is all I ask for.
Have they fixed this or is there a mod / tweakable solution to it? I really, really don't want it.
You need to learn to selectively choose your battles. If you draw your sword manually before stepping into combat range, Geralt does not automatically sheathe it afterward, and it gives you time to Quen yourself and prepare runes, potions, bombs, oils, etc. The fact that he does automatically draw the correct sword when you're surprised is extremely nice . . . but I always try to be one step ahead of the enemies and fight them on my terms. Witcher sense helps with this. Trust me, the game is way more fun when you choose your battles.

You didn't get the tutorial message that tells you how to sheathe your sword using the C button? (Or whatever your control scheme is.)

Well, at higher levels the perception range of Geralt seemingly gets larger.

So when I am in siren infested parts, Geralt will draw whenever one of them gets close. He goes into fighting stance when the siren is still approching, enabling me to have him use Aard or Igni on the approaching siren.

If you have developed Aard and/or Igni well enough, there is a good chance that foes will die while still outside of swords reach (with Geralt sheathing his sword after the kill). Happens with most monsters.

In the end the automatic reaction from Geralt (drawing his sword) makes me aware of foes that try to get near me, I've got time enough to react, use the right sign - could not be better.

And will loose climbing ability. :\
I got pretty hard fight against a siren's flock in the small rock hole becouse of that.
