Just finished the original Witcher 3 and Geralt ended as a Witcher and Ciri became Empress. I thought this would be a happy ending for Ciri but it resulted in a sad farewell with Geralt. So I am wondering if there is a combination of endings for Geralt and Ciri to both be happy.

Both continuing as witchers or Geralt going with one of his sorceress girlfriends and Ciri being Empress or witcher.

I know it is only a game but I like happy endings.

Both can be happy endings. Geralt can tell Ciri that she doesn't have to say goodbye. She will be empress, and can find him anywhere, any time. The empress ending is not a sad ending, but a bittersweet one. Geralt and Ciri will part ways in both endings, regardless. He has a future with his love interest, and Ciri has hers as a witcher or empress. Then there's the sad ending...

If you want what is probably the most popular ending, then the only thing you need to change from what you did is to NOT take Ciri to see the Emperor. You have the option just before you leave with her to Bald Mountain. Skip the meeting with the Emperor and you will get a different kind of happy ending.

I had the happy ending. I related my experiences with my daughter in the game so it turned out well for my Geralt and ciri story. She becomes a witcher and follows in Geralts footsteps. :)

I thought that having Ciri be Empress was the best ending for her but now I believe otherwise. As Empress she can't just drop in on Geralt and visit him without an army following her. As a Witcher it will be much easier, so that is how she will end this time.

Geralt will go away with Yennefer or Triss, not sure which yet but leaning toward Triss.

Yes she can: "Zirael is the Lady of Time and Space" (Avallac'h).

She only has to think about him and she's there. Nobody in the court would know she's gone, providing her absences are not inconvenient or prolonged, but as empress, she can tell them what the hell she wants to.
