sorry i wasn't sure where to take this post. i haven't played any other RPGs and now that the witcher series is over (cries like a baby-CDPR: PLEASE MAKE MORE!!!), i'm wondering if there are any other ones similar that i might enjoy. any suggestions woule be great, thanks

None? How about Skyrim? It all depends on what you want or expect. For example some people would recommend Fallouts (3 onwards) while others will tell you to stay clear. That goes for any game. Are you interested only in new games or old/er games like Oblivion? Give us a bone here...

Well, it certainly depends a lot on a lot of personal preferences, but:

- shadow of mordor >> little RPG, lots of hack/slash
- dragon age >> RPG
- kingdoms of amalur >> RPG
- risen >> RPG
- risen 3 >> RPG
- of orcs and men >> RPG, more or less
- dark souls 3
- skyrim >> RPG

etc., etc.
Some of them are a bit outdated, but in general you will get good to first class visuals, mostly well or first class told stories - most of all: any decent machine can run the stuff.

What might interest you, too: around August 10 "no man's sky" will be released.
Now, this certainly does not fit in any drawer (like RPG, first person shooter, etc.), but I guess this game will be outstanding in more then one way.

Have fun deciding...

What did you like about the Witcher series? Was it story, exploration, combat, all of the above, something else, etc.? That'd help us direct suggestions to you.

With the sale on, its a good time to look for new games!

With the sale on, its a good time to look for new games- this is why i thought i'd ask as it seems a good time to buy. i liked the withcer storylines, how you got to pick and choose your way through, the open worlds, the character interactions, exploration and the fact that its not a shoot em up game.

truly no others. i've been a hidden object gamer till earlier in the year when i found a cheap but new copy of TW1, and my love for RPGS has grown since then. i don't mind how old or new they are, but continuity is good.

The Hasbro classics are on sale right now at 80% off. These are isometric style games, but hugely popular except maybe Dragonshard and Demon Stone.

Pillars of Eternity, Divine Divinity, Divinity Original Sin are all excellent games. If you're looking more away from isometric types, Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic, and Knights of the Old Republic 2 are excellent, and if you don't mind DRM, the Mass Effect trilogy is definitely worth a look. Deus Ex, Dark Souls... Damn, there's too many to choose from. Where to stop?

Back on the classic isometric track, I have two redeem codes for Baldur's Gate original and Baldur's Gate 2 Complete. If you're interested PM me and you may have them.
Did not think of this:

there is a redeem code for NWN, diamont edition (Neverwinter Nights) that you can have, too.
Isometric view, be prepared to spend a lot of hours, RPG -one of the classics.
PM ...
I would endorse Elder Scrolls Skyrim too.

It's full of glitches but there are plenty of people who can help you get around them, especially if you play on PC and can use the console.

I loved the game even though I now prefer Witcher 3.

If you don't mind dated graphics and a cumbersome map system, Witcher 2 isn't bad either

As a last thought Tomb raider is an open world game and a heck of a lot of fun. Tomb Raider 2013 and Rise Of The Tomb Raider have great scenery, super graphics and an interesting story line.

Well. All right. I'll pick a few titles that I personally enjoy, send you links and you tell me whether you find them interesting and if not, why - that way we can then make more suggestions based on what you disliked about previous ones, but we should probably start somewhere. All right, here goes:
My personal favorite, Pillars of Eternity. It's a huge game with excellent story, fun lore and background to discover. Main differences from Witcher 3 are that you don't control a single character, but rather a party which makes combat a good deal more complicated. Good news is that the game contains "Story mode" difficulty which will allow AI to take care of most combat for you.

Then there's Jade Empire from Bioware, games from which CD Project has taken a lot of inspiration from. I have chosen Jade Empire specifically because it has pretty reasonable graphics, action-orientated battle system, but it's also got very good storyline, fun dialogues and a lot of decisions you can make troughout. It is not open world however, its structure is much more similar to Witcher 1 and 2 than to Witcher 3.

And the last recommendation I'm going to make to keep things varied is Shadowrun: Dragonfall. Turn-based combat system (think chess, but it's more complicated and far easier at the same time), excellent story and character, but a good deal more linear.

Take a look at these three and tell us if you find them interesting or not and if not, why precisely.
One thing to add (not counting the games I did not mention) :
with any mentioned game there might be "... plenty of bugs!" or anything like this.
Just do not listen too much :).

With more demanding games (hardware wise) there will always be the chance that you/the system and the game do not really understand themselves too well.
Like: W3 no bugs for me, and then look at the forum.
With older games you most likely will get a copy that has been patched sufficiently long ago.
Good luck...

Not sure of any games specifically similar to The Witcher series, but it would depend on which specific similarities one is fond of also. It was pretty epic and IMHO rewrote how this type of RPG is done so in at least that sense there's nothing out there like it. :)

For any particular game suggestion one might suggest to you though there will be someone else out there that hates it naturally or else a game would have to have a 100% approval rating. While individual opinions on games vary, one can get a general idea overall by looking at mass ratings. While not 100% accurate, I use a combination of Steam's rankings along with Metacritic's rankings of a game, ignoring reviewers rankings which are often paid off by the game company in one way or another, but focusing on the user ratings instead.

So if you fire up Steam and browse the game library based on RPGs and sort by user ranking/recommendations you'll get some suggestions at least that are more relevant than random individual comments. Having said that, Bethesda's Elder Scrolls series and Fallout games are among the most popular RPG AAA game series out there. Prior to The Witcher 3 I had finished Skyrim and found it to be the best RPG I'd ever played, but The Witcher 3 replaced it on the top of my list. :)

I don't think anyone mentioned it but don't forget the Gothic series. Piranha Bytes really started this whole style. So, have a look and read about the Risen series and Gothic series
