If someone could help with a stupid situation that would be awesome. I've decided to play Witcher 3 again ever
since I stopped playing after a 2 or 3 weeks after the release of the game.

I'm having trouble to understand the installment of the patches, I've downloaded the 4 parts that let me install patches from 1 to 10 I believe, though doesn't allow me to install them due to either being a format that plays on VLC player or because GOG says that the game is the wrong version?

I've was hoping to install the patches without having to re-install the game, so I've followed a tutorial that told to change the Witcher 3 directory, which I thought would solve it, which has not. I've also been suggested to repair the game, but it doesn't allow me to select that option.

If there's any other way to install the patches other then re-installing the game, it would be appreciated.

Some more information would be helpful. What version is your Witcher 3 game?

If you install the game from DVD it is version 1.0.

1. Install the Day-One-Patch (http://play.thewitcher.com/).
2. Install patch 1.01-1.10 by double clicking the exe file.
3. Install patch 1.10- 1.12.1.
4. Install the DLC pack if you want it.
5. Install HoS addon if you have it.

If your game is version 1.10 just install patch 1.10-1.12.1. Install DLC pack if you want it. Install HoS addon if you have it.

If this doesn't work import the game to GOG Galaxy and let Galaxy do the patching for you.

1. For GOG games installed using installers from the last few months (so called Galaxy-compatible installers)
Click the "+" button on top of the sidebar and select "scan and import folders" - it will find all compatible games within that folder and add them to the Client.

2. For remaining GOG game INSTALLATIONS
Find the game in the Library (click on the image of the game), then click the More button and select "Manage" -> "Import folder" and point the folder selector into the folder where that game is installed.
Please be aware that Client will accept any folder pointed to and will overwrite files inside it (this can for example wipe some mods or damage other apps in case of pointing to a wrong folder) and will update the game to the newest version (current default language English).

I had trouble figuring out the patches as well - I think the first thing you should do is check what version you have .
That 1.01 -> 1.10 patch worked fine for me but but mine was a New Install - if you are patched HIGHER than the 1.01 patch (I think that gets you to version 1.02) you may need to get up to 1.10 in a different way.

the version number is on the left hand side at the screen where you can choose a new game or a save game etc....

also I found emailing GOG support very helpful - it takes time usually about a day for an answer but they do get back...and they were patient

Found a solution.

My Beginning Status:
>Hadn't download any patches
>Game was a code from Nividia bought with a new graphics card
>Game woudn't update automatically
>Tried other solutions first

The beginning I figured I wouldn't be able to download straight to the latest patch since it wouldn't automatically
update. Under the title of the game it was saying 'unknown version', so I figured I wouldn't be able to download manually even though I could select the option (thought the download would cancel).

Tried the other solutions first just to be safe on not wasting time before downloading a 9.5 gb update.

But apparently it just allowed me to download manually straight from the 1.01 patch to 1.12.1 which was unexpected.

Thank you for the time and again will appreciated.
