alooper21: Can someone help me understand why they were considered free DLC? For what I understand, they were available Day 1, which makes it look more like they were kept out of the game just to be branded as "free DLC", further making it look like CDPR was just playing around the controversies at the time. I may be wrong, since all the reviewers are praising the move and take it for what CDPR is branding it to be, but it still looks somewhat questionable to me.
I am not denying CDPR's talent and the game's value. The two pieces of story DLC, as well as the main game itself, deserve all the praise they get from gamers, reviewers and the industry itself. But this "free DLC" detail sort of bugged me almost since the beginning.

timmy010: they weren't available day 1. things like alternate costumes, i doubt they were in the game from the start & new game+ was a community request so i really doubt these were cut content. controversy existed simply because the game was highly anticipated. there was nothing wrong with the game. hype creates negativity too

timmy010: not entirely sure what you mean. there was a game launch delay so cdpr said we'll give you some freebies + i guess they are out to make a statement. i mean if you consider some games on steam such as payday 2. the amount of pay dlc that has or even japanese fighting games which charge you loads just for some skins, i think they were right to make a statement about free dlc. then there's add the dlc to the game them launch. the dlc was every 2 weeks and sometimes had delays. i think people prefer to start playing. if you have the goty version, you have the dlc part of the game, no additional downloads.
