I installed a windows 10 OS on my previously windows 7 hdd.
Before that I copied my witcher saves to an external hard drive and then moved them back to the default save game folder. I have finished the game and I was on my way to game+ so I thought ...after 100+ hours spent it would be wise not to start from scratch...

Alas when I launched W3, my most recent save is two months old (june 26) and at the veni vidi vici quest. Any ideas if there is (was) a secondary place for the save games apart from the default one? cause honestly I dont know how these save games disappeared!

There is only one location. C:\User\Username\Documents\The Witcher 3\.
Just see if you missed some savegames on your external hard drive.

If you stored the savegames in different folders (like i do for different playthroughs) and copied them back together in the savegames folder they might have similar names and overwrite each other... but you would have been prompted then.

The backup folder sadly contains the save games that I have in game as well so ....I guess I managed (somehow) to save my latest saves on a different location before the format... I am a bit frustrated. Finished game all mastercrafter/superior sets for nothing:P
