So it seems I am one more of the players who failed this quest because of one missing ingredient, in my case it was endrega's pheromones.
So I was wondering if I could have missed this ingredient. I took Roche's path and we never faced an endrega queen, also I could have not sold it giving that I always carry my inventory almost full (220) in fear to have a use for any of my stuff later.
Any comments??
The only Endrega Queens I remember seeing are those you find just outside Flotsam; even then you have to destroy all those larvae for them to appear

The Queen Endrega's Pheromones contain the alchemical substance Fulgur, so it's quite possible to brew the quest item into a potion by accident. :-/
Endrega queens appear only in chapter 1. Roche or Iorveth sides don't matter.
I killed a lot of endregas outside flotsam, but never bothered with the eggs or cocoons. I think I dont even know how they looked like or that they could be destroyed.

So it seems that very secretly it is needed for you to finish both the endrega and nekker contract to acquire those ingredients and then save them for act III.

Well I don't think I really need that sword for finishing the game, I mean there is a guy who did it with a pickaxe.

There's a mod which allows inkeepers to sell all the usable items in the game. If the pheromones are not sold by them using this mod, you can sureley buy the sword from them

it turns out the Vran sword i was carrying has better stats that the sword you'd get for completing this quest so no biggie. :)

but as far as i know vran sword is only available on roche's path and not on iorvethn's.
so caerme , the sword you get from manuscript , is a pretty good addition for those following iorveth's side.
I am on Roche's path so I will be on the lookout for the sword. Thanks for the tip

really? I didn't know this. I'm still in Flotsam for my Iorveth's playthrough.

hmm it seems that Chapter 2 & 3 will be vastly different this time for me.. :D

IINM the sword will only be available during one of the choices you have to make in Chapter 3. Let's hope you'll make the right one.. :)

Kirth-Gersen:
Note that the human enemies are quite significantly weaker (and slower) than the monsters.
Oh for the monsters I have the one from the gargoyle's quest (Aied.. Something) and I already made the Vran armor. My steel sword is Arbitrator, which I thinks is pretty good.

i felt Dun Banner sword was better than arbirator and better looking too.
There's silver sword called Deithwein outside Loc Muinne at the end of passage to the right of the mountain path's end. its does a lot extra damage to gargoyles and large monsters so you might want to check it out
Will do too, thanks for the tip!.
