LionofPerth: Sorry, distracted by the idea of Triss on a 40" screen.
avatar
Aaden: Trust me - 40"-1080p-supersampling-Triss is way superior to 40"-720p-aliased-Triss. ;P
Interesting, since the TV in question is 1080p..... I am now very distracted.
Moor-who?

Palimpsest: Skyrim will be the same what Oblivion was. Only in other locations.
...and you know this how?

...and your arguments in favor for this opinion are?

Palimpsest: Moor-who?
Nice try. Mabye someone else will fall for it. ;)

Seriously, though: Completely arbitrary cross-reference to another thread, discussing whether or not The Witcher is a rip-off of one of said author's works. Smile if you read it and deemed it as ridiculous as I did, or just ignore the reference. :)

Well then, stop being distracted and start acting! All you need to do is hooking up your TV to your PC. No waiting for X360-version required for best-quality supersized Triss. :D

You right It is only my opinion;) I've watched gameplay from YT. And it was full of marketing gibberish("The great dragon flew over us. Wow! Just Wow! Epic!"). But I did not notice the big difference compared to Oblivion(even on graphics).

I believe they cannot do an Oblivion clone, unless they want to drive the series straight onto the wall. ;)

Oblivion was generic, with dozens and dozens of dungeons who nearly looked the same. The whole game screamed "random!". The story was also rather bad. The apocalypse was waiting until you finished all the side quests and exploration. Days, weeks, months...it just sat there and waited. If there was a feeling of urgence at all then it felt absolutely fake.

But as far as I know the fans - me included - communicated all those flaws towards Bethesda. And I'm pretty sure they heard us. So unless they're totally ignorant or..."oblivious" *g*...they will do a better job in Skyrim. Or else...no buy. ^^

Being an otherworldly being on the brink of bringing about Armageddon doesn't excuse bad manners. I don't know about you, but I'd be way more hesitant to kill an evil deity who said "please" and "thank you" than one who was chasing me through the forests the whole game. It's not a flaw--just good PR on the part of evil.

Oblivion and Fallout 3/New Vegas all felt very "same-ish," so I'm hoping they introduce something new to shake up the series a bit. Open world is fine, but it'd be nice to have a little more motivation to finish the main story.

227: There seems to be a distinct lack of elephants in both.
They have mammoths in Skyrim. Hopefully infinite number and randomly generated, I mean it would be more fun to fight a mammoth in an RPG than a dragon. Dragons are passe.

Totally. You know what would be even better than a mammoth? A giraffe. You'd be walking along and see a clearing and go, "Oh, here comes a dragon, I just know it," and then out jumps a giant giraffe with razor-sharp fangs that starts growling at you. Or doing whatever sound giraffes make.

Something I just learned: if you go to Google and type in "what sound," the first thing it tries to complete your question with is "what sound does a giraffe make." Not even kidding.

And mammoths aren't elephants, so technically I was right.

Point is: At the start of the game you're told: "Quick, go to Kvatch, or else..." And then you find out: "...or else nothing happens!" -.-

They did it more cleverly in Fallout 3, where things start slow and you're free to explore. And only when you follow the main quest line things start rolling on a big dimension.

Technically, yes, but actually mammoths > elephants, come on, everybody knows that! So now you see why they put mammoths instead of elephants in Skyrim.

But as giraffes are pretty much the ultimate raptors - I wonder what lead them to this terrible design decision to put dragons instead of giraffes in the game. I think that will get back at them.
I'm pretty happy they did not have a whole game ready just now.
Wouldn't it be better for the PC if the Xbox version got finished sooner so that that manpower would shift back to PC-centric maintenance? Xbox games don't really need much upkeep, so I'm assuming we'd get those people back, right?

Agreed, I would think so, too.

The problem is that there is a statement saying the two games are the same.... so I imagine that once a patch is ready for the either version that they convert the patch new content over to both, and the fixes are worked on separately.
