I do not even know if this is possible, but I notice some mods are starting to appear.

While I like the game a lot the Quick Time events are starting to get to me a bit and I am still in the prolog. I have left the dragon fight to the last as I gathered it would be the hardest. Now having said that I am playing on easy so he quick time events have been very easy till now.

At the beginning of this bit before the Dragon QTE I get a message to click the right mouse button when the prompt appears on screen. Well I can not see the prompt and the Dragon rushes along the rampart and knocks us off, and game ends.

Now I have even asked my 16 year old daughter to come in a give me a hand, and even she can not see the prompt.

Is it possible to make a mod that will highlight the key to press and / or pause the game when the prompt come up on screen?

If I am having problems in the prolog I doubt I will have a chance when things get really hard later.

I do not mind the QTE's, but it should be at least obvious what to do.
I would pref the game to be a story game not an eye test.

Any thoughts, is this possible?

Regards MarkL
A mod would be great.

Figure you've probably already done this, but worth a shot.

Have you tried turning off the difficult QTE in the options?

Might be helpful?
Um, run to the opposite direction of the dragon first, don't just stand there waiting for the button to flash, it will only flash when the dragon is about to do a fiery breath attack instead of just claw toward you...

Just hold down the back motion key (S is the default) and you should come through fine, Just be careful about keeping Geralt going straight, Losing speed by rubbing the walls is a fail.
This is stupid. Just turn off the damn QTE's.
I know many find QTEs frustrating, and a mod that removes them I'm sure would be appreciated by many who do dislike them; but, does anyone actually enjoy them? I for one, oddly enough perhaps, am quite fond of QTEs... perhaps this is a result of my favourite game being the Indigo Prophecy/Fahrenheit.

(I do admit, however, that I have not yet done the QTEs in TW2, as I'm waiting for my new graphics card to arrive - my two cents were just a general ramble about QTEs)

Unless I am missing something I see no quick time options when the game is set to easy.
Everything else on easy, is almost too easy. Where a lot of people were getting burnt by the dragon I just ran across on easy.

I think they (QTE's) are a flawed concept, I just hate button mashes. But hopefully I will get better. One thing I do like about the game is the auto target part of combat.

Anyway back for another try.

Oh yes, they have made everything right in Fahrenheit! The force feedback is brilliant, never again saw such a good implementation (well, maybe PoP 2008 as a close second). That together with the QTE is genius, I had hoped they would make a sequel just to experience that gameplay again.

That said, QTE's are a LOT easier with a controller!
The buttons are colorful and better visible than the ones for keyboard and the running away from the dragon is a lot easier with the stick instead of using the wrong key accidentally. I kept wondering if I missed something, because everyone was going on about the dragon in the prologue and I hardly saw it at all.
I really didn't like fist fighting in The Witcher, but the QTE in TW2 is so easy, it's actually fun. Again, with the controller. Which sadly isn't suitable for menus.

But later you will have it easier if you lock onto targets actively, to avoid having the game targeting an enemy that is not reachable, because there is another one in between, wich you will not hit, even if you stick your sword through him. ;)

Well I finally beat this one. It was not a QTE in the end. I was waiting for the wrong thing.

As soon as I just held down the "S" key I had no problem. At first I tried to turn around to use "W" and when that did not work I thought it must have been a QTE to beat. I have now found the setting to turn them off.

I can see one of my biggest problems is lack of experience with these sort of games and not knowing what to do or try. The only similar game I have player is Dragon Age II and you never have to guess what to do in that game.

I did try an XBox controller from the kids but since I have never used one before I could fight with it. One stick to move and one for orientation is a bit hard to get used to.

Anyway love the game so far, and thanks for all the tips as some will definately help in the future.

If they bring out a patch where you can reverse the rotation stick it may be better.
There may be other ways of setting up XBox pads but never having used one before I do not know. And I hate asking the daughter too much, the cost is too great. I can never live it down, how dad cab be so bad at games.

Oh, how cute is that! :D Excuse me for smiling out loud. That's just the way it is. My dad is usually the best at everything he does (or likes to think he is) and always has a comment to everything. But when he sees my computer skills, he doesn't even know a way to ask a question. Of course that's even an older generation, even I didn't grow up around computers, I grew into it at work and had my first pc mid-twenties.

But I was very old fashioned with gaming. I played the old Tomb Raider for years on end (fan made games) and when everything went from keyboard only with a chasing camera to having control over the camera with the mouse, but not being able to use the right hand anymore for movement, I was lost! I couldn't use WASD then, and I can't use it now. Tomb Raider Legend was an unsurmountable obstacle to me. I was complaining to my computer guru about my frustration and he told me to get a gampad. Ultimately I played TRL with movement mapped to LMB, so I could run and control the camera with the right hand. I still use that setup, whenever a game allows it, but a lot of devs prevent proper re-mapping. But over time, I found more and more games to play a lot better with controller. And not console games. And with the motor skills of my left hand rather getting worse than better, I am glad that I can use the controller for TW2 (for the most part). Once you're used to it, it feels very intuitive (but for me not with inverted sticks, that gives me vertigo). Just give it a try, push through the initial frustration and you can only gain a new possibility, if the other is not the way you'd like it.

I guess (and hope!) that the bad responsiveness of the controls are not only on the controller, but the same with MKB? And hope that they will patch that soon! It's hard enough to adapt to a new cs with actually working controls - I didn't stop dying, before I started adding the time in my head it takes to press a button two or three times, before it does anything and that's bad for ANY input device. And I imagine that the input lag doesn't help to master these QTE's, either.

Go to ingame Menu then gameplay to turn off QTE's. No idea if it changes for Easy mode since I play only Hard.
