Witcher 3. Any ideas? I think W3 should be placed in Nilfgaard. Geralt have to met Yennyfer (BTW: Yen in Witcher's memories was such pussy! In book, no gay elf wouldn't dare touch her). And why Wild hunt was kidnapped Yennyfer? Does Avallac and Eredin(he was the elf who took Yen) still searching for Ciri? What about Regis(he died but he was a vampire)? What will Radovid do?
Witcher 3 will be epic. Now when CDPR allready have engine they can make very long and good game :)
I'd like a nice big expansion of TW2 before that.
Yes, I really want to finally meet Yen and Ciri! But I'll be pissed if they'll be "perfect beauties" with double D-cup each... Yen isn't that typical beauty and Ciri is a petite girl, right? And no girly voice actresses like poor Triss in TW2.

Yeah, and lots of political chaos and cool monsters. And Dandelion singing a ballad about what transpired in the end. :D
Longer, Harder, Deeper :)

on the non-story front I would like to be able to customize geralt a bit more, on one playthru I might like to wear light/med armour, focus on sword fighting while on another I would like to explore the magic side of things. - more signs OR more sub signs within the tree. I know one can do that now but not that much regarding clothing.

How much should the books control what cdp do with expansions? what do you guys think? Is book geralt canon sacrosanct ? is it a limiting factor on what CDp can do or a major source of strength to add gravitas and backbone to the game.

The games have never been claimed to be canon, only that they honor Sapkowski's work. Although they aren't canon (in canon world, Geralt and Yennefer are dead, and Ciri is elsewhere), it would be silly for them to stray from reasonable extensions to canon. Geralt being alive for an unstated reason that demands explanation is fine; Geralt falling in love with Triss is stretching it; crap that's been demanded by others like putting zombies in the game is absurd.

I would favor additional story elements, with the ability to explore places and meet characters derived from canon (like the way Shani was developed from a minor character in canon), over things like additional equipment that doesn't help tell the story or fit the canonical witcher.

The foundations for the gameplay was fantastic, the environments were amazing and the quests were great.

I would love more of each, a longer game, bigger environments and deeper choices and consequences.

As for the gameplay, balance should be essential, then flesh out the combat for more enemy variety and more combat options. Deeper skill trees.
I'd like to see consequences for (getting caught) stealing, though. It's odd that the hated mutant can just walk into people's homes and loot every container he finds right in front of the people owning it, and there are no consequences for doing that.

Also; maybe a freeer world, where you entirely decide where to go and where not to go, Ultima style.

I was thinkin Cate Blanchette when she played Marian in Robinhood kinda looked like Yen to me but then I didn't really read the books.

That was one of the dropped features. I clearly remember watching a dev diary and they said "no more robbing people's houses".

Um, intense storytelling and sandbox don't go together too well. The story gets watered down, if you spend all you time running around somewhere. And well, if you never go to the elven bath, for example, you never advance the story. If you don't like a story driven game, I hear Skyrim's up for release in November. ;)

What I'd also like, more monsters to slay and less people - I'm a monster slayer, not a soldier.

I'd like that, too, 80 hours in and I still find it weird I can blatantly steal like that. At least have them yell at me or react in some way, lol.

Have you ever played an Ultima? Ultimas are all story-driven games, with characters, story, and philosophy; but they're all (except the abysmal EA-ffed-over IX) completely non-linear and entirely open world.

You can have both; they are not mutually exclusive.

Ooops, I guess I thought too much Bethedsda sandbox. Haven't played Ultima, so in lack of the facts, my comment might not be valid.
In my opinion The Witcher 3 will be the best of the series. Here's why:

1) RED engine is done. They will be probably tweaking it etc, but with TW3 they will have more time and people resources to develop the game itself. In TW2 we can see that they had to make sacrifices to fit in the budget and deliver the game on time, while they were working both on the engine and the game.

2) With more time & resources available CDPR will be able to really, REALLY put emphasis on Q&A - I think the feedback they are getting now is clear about that. So TW3 comes out really polished in terms of gameplay, balance, bugs etc (though bugs are probably be there anyway)

3) As CDPR is putting real attention to what fans say, I assume that most of the complaints and constructive criticism will be taken into consideration. As I expect TW3 to be multi-platform from day one, maybe they will even bet on making the PC version slightly different in terms of UI - to keep those proud PC gamers happy. This might sound like a big bet but hey - we all know that guys from CDPR are positively crazy enough at least to think about that.

4) I think CDPR will aim to make TW3 a really epic story with an epic ending. Still going back to what I stated in my nr.1 - they will have enough TIME. I'm not worried about the art direction, the writing and so on, because this is already on top of the industry level.

5) Lastly - I hope that in general they stay true to themselves and the spirit of the series. So - no party-based gameplay, no open world, no dumbing down the game or combat, more of that dark & grimy atmosphere that distinguishes The Witcher series from other fantasy titles. Oh, and a little bit more of the monster hunting quests would be nice, although I think the way they worked it out in TW2 was brilliant - so if they are to sacrifice quality over quantity - hell, let it stay the way it is.

At this point its how we get our loot in both games, so I doubt that will change. As far as TW3 is concerned, they just need to spruce up the engine, like they are doing, and let the writers do their thing.

I wan't it to be more like the first Witcher.

Witcher 2 is disappointment to me!
