Witcher 2 can very well become the best RPG of 2011! It has already become a game that looks into the future... settings standards for all games to come, especially true for role playing games.

IMHO we are going to have 3 more major contenders and these all come in the form of sequels (just like Witcher) or successors --> Deus Ex: Human Revolution, Skyrim and Dark Souls.

It is going to be a battle of RPG sequels. I have few hopes from Skyrim, mainly because Oblivion was just not good enough (compared to Morrowind). Although, Human Revolution and Dark Souls should come out really good!

For now, Witcher 2 is the King... hopefully will remain so for few years!

We need a couple more patches or an expansion pack to say that. TW2 is amazing but still it's far away from its potential. Very short Act III, many bugs, disappearing characters (Iorveth and Zyvik especially), poor ending... Also a strong competition awaits, Skyrim is on the road. Hunted: Demon's Forge looks promising either. Early to say that but yes, TW2 is one of the strong candidates for me too.

Yes, I agree. Hunted is more action adventure, right? It is more coop focused action title - from trailers and previews. I am just too skeptical when it comes to Elder Scrolls anymore :/

As for the topic, it's May so obviously it's way too early to say. Is it the best RPG this year so far? Maybe... what else came out this year? I can't think of any RPGs that came out already other than Dragon Age 2 and Fable 3, which certainly aren't as good.

As for the rest of the year Skyrim, Deus Ex 3 and to add a new one Risen 2 are HUGE releases. There's no real way to tell how The Witcher 2 will stack up to those until we play them, but given the talent involved and early previews I would say any of the three could easily top The Witcher 2. I don't know about Darksouls as I don't play console games.

yeah... Zyvik just vanished on my save. When i went back to finish Lost Lambs Quest, indicator showed he is beyond the cursed mist. A couple save-loads didn't change it. I had to went back to another save and lost about 2 hrs playtime.. Someone said Iorveth vanished in his savegame just like my Zyvik situation.

It is a bit early, but considering there are hardly any other RPGs around... it is kind of a safe bet. Btw, I forgot to mention another sequel - Dungeon Siege III. Seems, this game is going to be lots of fun!

Dark Souls, well it is going to be spiritual successor to Demon's Souls. DS is perhaps THE best RPG on PS3. Even Witcher 2, takes elements from Demon's Souls!!! So, yes, I am really excited about Dark Souls :)

Anyway, right now the only RPG I am playing is Witcher 2 :D

I guess Skyrim will be the Game Of The Year and the RPG of the year. Witcher 2 is really good but it's not flawless. Haven't seen anything about Risen 2 yet but i hope we'll see some from it and Skyrim both at E3 next week :)

I liked Risen a lot and Risen 2 looks very promising so far. On amazon.de says that it will be available on Dec 30th 2011 so, if not delayed, it could count for 2011, I guess.

Well, there are at least 4-5 more AAA RPGs coming, so... not that safe really.

One of the biggest release in 2012 apart from ME3 is going to be Diablo III :D

Again, Mass Effect 3 is going to be further simplified (like ME2 over ME1 and Dragon Age 2 over DA: O) :(

Diablo III on the other end, will be a super polished product! Blizzard never disappoints in this regard. Never.

I do hope we get a nice quality regular supply of DLCs for Witcher 2!!!

I'm not sure what's the hype about Mass Effect though. Although alot like ME2.. honeslty i just felt it's kinda empty game. Just my opinion though.

It's Blizzard. No one can be sure about the exact release date :)
