Seriously edge.... i need that Video CDP made mocking EDGE
They are complaining that you can't create your own character and the game is "slow" to kick in at the start what are they smocking ? what a lame review W2 got one of the best openings in gaming (the whole dragon and all)

They gave the game 6/10 that's the lowest score Witcher 2 EVER got

It's quite popular in the UK, I'm more surprised by the review than its score, he basically complain that he wants a custom character he can create instead of Gerald which does not fit in this game at all, this is not oblivion or dragon age origins where main character never speaks and have no "character" to begin with

Someone who dislikes role playing Geralt from the start probably not going to give a good score :)

Oh, and that first paragraph also made clear that the reviewer isn't qualified for writing reviews - not for the press, anyways, for a blog maybe. He clearly isn't interested in what the game offers, but in what does not suit his idea of a RPG. That's a grave mistake to make and shouldn't happen in a (as it seems) major magazine.

Agreed, except for the fact that to complain about not being able to create your own character when the story is all about Geralt of Rivia is... somewhat lame.

I agree with you, the reviewer simply expected a game like Dragon Age Origins or DA2 with customizable character and classes, none of his complaints are legitimate reasons to dislike the game though. It just feels like the wrong person was given the task to review the game for that magazine, at the very least there all biased opinions and I won't take them seriously.

The bias against CDPR is puzzling, but the truth is you see these reviews with even the most popular games.

they're a relatively minor company. thus they can't pay reviewers to give them good scores like bioware.

I almost registered with Edge just to comment but that would reward their review.
Sure, the game has faults but anything lower than an 8 needs to be laughed at.

I thought the openning act was pretty awesome even if it was a steep learning curve. Who would play a medievil cRPG and not love the siege and taking of a castle, defending your king and running from a dragon?!!

The reviewer, Edge is scared to show names, bashed 'The Witcher 2" because you had to play as Garelt?! I mean, did they play the first game at all? Do they know what THE in front of the title of the game means?!!

Yes, the mouse/keyboard implamentation takes some time to get used to. Yes, the game is balanced poorly and the front of the game can be very difficult your first time through. Yes, the UI is clumsy and flawed (my biggest complaint that the reviewer never even discusses in any depth!!).

The game has so many upsides that they easily, I mean, easily outway the blemishes in 'The Witcher 2'. It's pretty obvious this reviewer went in with predeposed opinions and an agenda to discredit this game for unkown reasons.

Sure, we are all allowed to have our opinions but when you call a red apple a green apple you lose all credability.

Who cares, it can't get 10/10 scores everywhere - that would be insane.
I just wish mags would criticize the game for the right reasons, not superficial shit like "U play Geralt durr".

complaining that an rpg is too slow to start is like complaining that your cake tastes too good. And with that in mind, the start is still fairly fast-paced.

Parts of the review I can agree with. The combat system is a bit weird. Sometimes I think I connected the blow, but I missed my strong attack. Then there are times when the auto-targeting makes Geralt leap across the forest to attack a so-called Kikimore when I wanted to attack that bandit with the huge stick and that ends the game for me.

Although, I dislike the overall tone of the review. It's obvious he wanted to make his own character instead of being Geralt. He should not have done the review. Reading that review doesn't give the reader any other insight other than combat, the first 2-3 hours of the game, and his hate for Geralt. Was the game rich in content? Does it justify the $45 asking price? No mention of the DRM-free version? The amount of stuff added to supplement the $45 purchase?

Someone above me put it best: it felt more like a blog post than a review.
